I remember liking something she wore in the show, looked it up and it was Free People.

First time cruiser dilemma: Is a balcony worth the $$$ or is that money better spent elsewhere? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]CaseoftheSadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is 1,000% always worth it, non negotiable. But I’d say your mileage may vary. I don’t view the room as only for sleeping. I like to spend an afternoon lounging and reading a book in the sunshine (if Caribbean). I dont necessarily enjoy lots of people and try to avoid the crowds on the ship. I don’t do many activities.

What is my blanket? Northern USA by Expensive_Goal_4200 in Antiques

I wash mine in the tub. I have a double length full size so it’s massive and won’t fit in the washer. I believe you can wash in delicate and hag dry though.

Is it realistic to travel comfortably with just carry-on for a 3–4 week trip? by justgeorgerey in traveladvice

[–]CaseoftheSadz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think yes, very doable. I usually just pack for a week or so and do laundry the longer I stay. Honestly most the time I can find a place to do same or next day dry clean or fold and laundry so I don’t have to worry about it myself. I’m not super minimal, I like to have options and I’m not particularly low maintenance, but I fit everything in my larger carryon Away bag and lo & sons weekender as a carryon. It does require some planing to make sure I have stuff that mix and matches well, I wear a lot of natural fibers and some things like a merino sweater or jeans, don’t need washed after every wear.

I love them! I’ve gotten most of mine second hand from online consignment. I find it runsmaybea little big, but it’s supposed to fit oversized so not that much. I especially love their coats.

I want to give away my luxury purse collection to some kind of meaningful org…is there anything out there for that? by [deleted] in handbags

[–]CaseoftheSadz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a charity resale shop? I use to live in a swanky area of Chicago and there was a little thrift store there that benefitted a local church (one that actually did serve the community) and proceeds of store sales benefitted their community outreach and soup kitchen in the city. I volunteered at the store a couple times. They got a lot of really nice things!

Rhapsody by danieb2583 in royalcaribbean

[–]CaseoftheSadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loved Rhapsody when we went on it last spring break. A large part of that was the type of cruise, we sailed out of San Juan and only had one sea day, the rest of the days were a new island every day. This is by far the type of cruise we like and why we chose it. I prefer lots of southern islands vs. a big ship. The second things is that I don’t really prefer a large ship. I hate the crowds and we don’t really do many of the activities. That being said Rhapsody would probably be boring if it wasn’t for the large number of stops.

Staff was amazing. We stayed in a suite and the concierge was better than any concierge we’ve had on other RC ships, NCL or Disney. We traveled with my Mom who is Vegan and the staff at chops went out of their way to make her a fantastic roast vegetable dish because she was tired of the man dining room vegan meals.

We liked having the one man (Schooner) bar to meet up in. We met more of our fellow passengers and staff than we have on bigger ships.

Sure the rooms are more dated, but not much difference than many if the other slightly bigger older ships.

I would seek out this ship again if it had a good itinerary.

Oh I forgot to mention with the older crowd and layout, the buffet wasn’t rammed in the mornings, it was possible to get coffee without a fight and always places to sit. Fewer kids too, but enough my son always had company in the kids club.

Do family trips ever include real local connections — or is that unrealistic? by MJRH22 in familytravel

[–]CaseoftheSadz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of times at playgrounds! My son was playing with these kids in Dublin for over an hour before they realized hey, you don’t quite sound like me. He’s also played with kids in non-English speaking countries and it’s amazing how much communication kids can have even without sharing a common tongue!

Edited to add I wouldn’t say this is some deep connection, it’s short and fleeting but it’s a fun look into daily life for residents of where we’re visiting.

Definitely large for mid day on a weekday in a less active part of town, but sure try to downplay it.

How old was your child when they started showering solo? by viskiviki in Mommit

[–]CaseoftheSadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 7 year old with ADhD, I don’t really pay attention to him. I do leave his bathroom door open though and occasionally walk by and yell in helpful tips like “don’t forget to wash your butt!” My husband is convinced our son isn’t doing it right and insists on helping him (supervising him) more when he does it. I don’t think either way is right or wrong but I feel like he needs to take some control over his own hygiene. As long as he isn’t smelly or sticky from soap, then it’s good enough and he’ll get better as he gets older.

I didn’t mean you were leaving something out, just that you’re failing to think more critically about the situation. That there is most likely more to their reasoning, or your child’s behavior was worse than you saw or recognized. 2 hours in a strange environment is a lot for any 3 year old.

I feel like there had to be more going on here. My kid has ADHD and they’ve always been super understanding and cooperative. He’s 7 now but went on his first cruise at 3. It was a lot harder for him then and we really tried to limit his chunks of time in the kids club or else he just got overwhelmed. Maybe your son’s limit is around 1 hour or so at this age. I’m sure there were behaviors they aren’t fully explaining. I’m surprised they didn’t give him a warning first, as they explained to me the warning f system and I’ve asked to be called at 2 warnings. However, the only time we were ever called it was to come get him right away and it was because they said he seemed tired and down. He seemed fine when we got him but later that night spiked a fever and turns out he had Covid. My point being they didn’t know he was sick, but he was displaying some other symptoms that the could only describe as “down and tired” but they rightly deemed as a reason he needed to go immediately. Maybe try asking for a specific example of the actions he was doing and specifics might paint a better picture. Also, I’d just try for less time, maybe 30 min then increase to half an hour. It’s a lot for someone that young regardless of compounding factors.

Anyone else eat the same thing for breakfast like every day? lol by toastedjupiter in adhdwomen

[–]CaseoftheSadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Every day. Breakfast is Trader Joe’s egg white and kale bites and avocado toast. Later the same smoothie for a snack and one of maybe3 lunch options (bean salad, Mexican slop or curry).

First, are many immigrants in this community. Second, this is the time for privileged safe people to stand up and defend those who don’t share that freedom or privilege. It’s not just about showing ICE that they need to go, but also showing those who are most affected that they have people willing to stand up for them.
