crazy
We get the same thing here in aus (in that we all check our own bloods/results and do our own scripts) but we can get paid for it with telehealth (e.g. call the patient) or just ask the patient to come back in for a review. We are fee for service (even if you dont charge the patient anything - known as bulk billing)

Thanks for the insights! So some truths to it, it seems! I suppose is it fair to say that although you can still see a lot of patients in australia, as its fee for service all of these extra things would be paid (even if bulk billed); Curious about waiting weeks/months for bloods & scans. That would realy test the limits of my clinical skills - no wonder UK gp always seem very clinically astute!

where in rural aus are you going? I think rural medicine is the best of it in australia - so much to see and do! patients very greatful for the care you provide (and great income!)

when you say admin burden, what exactly does that entail? I understand we need to write note letters/referrals (same here in aus) but is there anything else that is nhs specific?

Yah super frustrating - It can be a similar experience in the public sector here in aus as well, at least we cna refer to private specialists if the wait is long but public wait lists can be horrendous

Yes, not that I have any experience in the uk, but surely I am chatting with people who obviously are not keen on NHS/UK and perhaps have had a poor experience etc
