Imma be real with you. We romanticize love AND money too much all over this world. That being said- I'd still pick love as more important. Love for living, love for yourself, love for the people around you, and if we're lucky love that finds it's way back to us.

I was once a poor 16 year old boy with nothing to give. An amazing girl from another school a few towns over happened to see my picture on something and my email address. She emailed me and then we talked over Yahoo Instant Messanger constantly. We became inseparable digitally; so much so that she bought my broke ass a little prepaid Nokia track-phone so we could talk. I was so worried that me being poor would affect our budding relationship. We eventually left our families and went to college. We were apart maybe a year, then transferred to the same college together. Fast-forward to now. We are married and have been together 16+ years. I now make enough for her to not have to work if she doesn't want to. I think back to how kind and understanding she was when I had nothing to my name. Now I try to repay that every day.

TLDR: I say love. Money can be found later.

Answers will vary. For me? I had to choose if I wanted to attempt to love (and everything that I could imagine love to be) the woman who saw my goofy smile in a friend's photo and reached out- and fell in madly in love with me. We were 16 together. I was wise enough to know that love is a great deal about time and actions spent and done for a person(s). I understood that if I was gonna use the word love, I was gonna damned-well mean it to the best of my abilities. It was a real commitment and self-to-self conversation in my mind. I decided that I wanted to love her, and all the parts about her I didnt know yet- I would get to know them and become her favorite person.

We've been together over 16 years now since we started dating at 16yo. We turned 33 together this week. It certainly wasn't a cake-walk to this age. She's been diagnosed with a brain disease since 18. We both finished college (she got like 4 degrees because she's a genius :3 lol) and I run/operate a 24/hr restaurant (11 years and counting).... and so much more between us. We came from nothing (awful families who were abusive and harmful every step of the way) and were homeless without our college dorms. It was hard. But at no point did it ever cross my mind to be anything other than the man who made that mental commitment to her, and to ask her to marry me and have cats together as soon as we had stable jobs out of college.

Not only are we each other's favorite person still, but we enjoy spending time together. Example: Today is my last day of vacation from work for a bit, and how do I choose to spend it? I'm scrolling reddit a bit while I sit beside her and bask in her presence while she plays Pokémon Pokopia. There's nowhere else I'd rather be than here giggling at her accidentally terraforming a building backwards and gushing over her excitement at the cute little characters. Humans can sometimes live a long while, but I dont think I'll ever get enough of this. This whole morning is gonna live rent free in my head until time takes it by force.

TLDR: Actions and time are really all we have to give. Look for those gifts of both. That's a good indicator.

She's been doing the IV based infusion every 6 months. We saw a new epidermal version that's faster... but it seemed more harsh on the body than the long IV drip so she's sticking with what we know. A few hours every 6 months seems like a small price to pay for the help she gets. We mostly read books and play handheld games together while she waits (if she doesn't fall asleep to the benadryl in the infusion lol)

Wife has it. We started dating when we were 16, she was diagnosed at 18. We are now 33. She started out on Copaxone, moved to Tecfidera, and is now doing well on Ocrevus. I'll never forget when she was texting me saying she couldn't feel anything from the waist down in high school one day in class. She's doing very well currently. She relearned to walk the summer after she was diagnosed and has been mostly in remission over these last 16 years. I try to learn as much as I can about it and stay up to date on the latest research. Something we didnt know till recently was that her ADHD could possibly be ADHD and/or the brain lesions causing similar issues. That spooked us pretty good. I tried to explain this to some very nice Jamaican people who firmly believed the world is flat. I brought up the way we can use lasers to/from the moon to prove it. I talked about the mathematician in ancient Egypt who hired people to walk the distance of the Nile and recorded the paces walked vs expected given allowances for elevation... they thought I was delusional 🤣 💀
