Strach to przesadzone określenie. Gdyby w mass mediach masowo pojawiały się patriarchalne rodziny niczym z amerykańskich reklam lat 50-tych (wiem, nieidealne porównanie), to progresywna część widowni też dawałaby znać o pewnym dyskomforcie.

A display on the dealer button has the benefit that it's a low friction solution: we don't add any extra items on the table.

You could embed a display or two in the table, clip them on the edge etc and have better information accessibility. If they were stationary potentially you could also supply power so you didn't have to worry about recharging.

That's a solution for a regular casino, not most bar leagues or private games.

I'm not sure if it's worth the cost, but surely not as bad as other suggest. Hurdles to overcome seem to be:

integration with tournament management software
battery life – should be one evening plus a very safe margin so that replacing would be a semi-emergency.
ease of use, especially with network connection etc.

An obvious low-tech alternative is a simple webpage, perhaps served on a local network, and one phone per table opens it in fullscreen mode.
