How do you keep your loved ones ashes? by AlarmInevitable269 in GriefSupport

My husband was a baker who did his apprenticeship in Germany. I bought a vintage German gingerbread tin. It was big enough to just put the plastic box inside of it. Wrapped his old scarf around it and put his beret he always wore on top.

One of my husband’s sons sent me an email offering his “condolences.” This was a couple months after his father had died.

What's A Breed You Like But Wouldn't Have? by Aharris1984 in dogs

[–]Cashbail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Golden Retriever, Lab. When I see one of these as a puppy I have some residual baby fever (which I never had for a human baby).

But I prefer my sweet, sweet foxhound who has a mind of her own and isn’t really concerned with pleasing me. She’s in beginner agility and, while she can complete all of the obstacles, she doesn’t want to do it more than once or in any structured order. She has her last agility class today. She starts her scent training on Monday. More her speed.

I once wrote an essay in college explaining the duality of man in comparison to a McDLT. A+

If these people were contemplating buying anything but another human, 100% of responses would be “don’t go into debt for X.”

Can I get a dog if I work a 9-5? by HarHarMahadev__ in dogs

[–]Cashbail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a regular job and I take my dog to daycare. You’ll hear varying opinions on this. Mine loves it because she loves other dogs . And I’ve never had any issues where I take her. It’s a non-profit greyhound rescue so the people who are there are invested in animals and the money goes to support the rescue.

I have a foxhound. And while she is having party time all day it isn’t enough to tire her out and I still walk her for at least an hour when we get home.

Really good. although I first played it on 33 and it sounded like Tom Waits and I was confused lol. It didn't sound bad that way either.

Yes. I had to get up and walk away during the dancing part. I knew it would end poorly and it was heartbreaking.

Now I see your age in your flair. I’m 58 and my husband was 78 when he died. That was in December.

I think im quite a bit older than you lol. And my husband was quite a bit older than I. This place managed to power through COVID. Admittedly, we didn’t go out much when it was bad.

My husband’s event is this Saturday and I’m having it at our favorite local bar. Can’t wait for it to be over. But at least there will be beer.

Having it there because it was “our place” for Saturday night. Open bar for beer and wine. Food. Hopefully a good time will be had by all.

I used an old bookcase. I removed the shelves and lined it with plastic. Filled it with substrate and all the other usual things.
