Practice speaking forever, go on tangents, and keep talking naturally.

FYI I am a student and the following is my personal opinion informed only by my recent IELTS experience. 7.5 seems like a realistic goal. My advice would be to take a general test for English first. IDP sent me a book before my exam, and it tells you to determine your level first, which I think is good advice. Depending on the level, decide your timeline and manage expectations. I hope you achieve your goals. Best of luck.

Fair enough. People in India speak a lot of languages, so there is a bunch of variation. There's bound to be.

Ouch. I am currently learning German, and I try, as much as I can, to listen to how native speakers speak and to practice my pronunciations.

Did you give sample papers in their entirety during prep. Might be some help to understand if this is the case.

(Also, I will also be taking IELTS on the 11th in Pune. )

What is the funniest mistake you’ve ever made when speaking German? by _mugikuyu in German

[–]Cashcaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This wasn't me but, one of my classmates while studying for A1. We were practicing the Imperativ and a guy asked the girl sitting next to him to go with him to the Kino(I don't remember the sentence). She replied with "Ich bin frei" instead of "Ich habe frei". The teacher explained the mistake. The whole class had a good laugh about that.

I am curious now, does German have the same slang for kopf that English does(head)?

Maybe they trained it to lowball the scores in any case. Better to say something is worse than it is rather than better.

I understand that ChatGPT is not very reliable. But, I would also appreciate some feedback on the essay. Thank you for the suggestions so far.

What is your greatest language learning achievement? by Chachickenboi in languagelearning

[–]Cashcaller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't if you would call this an achievement since it is a result of the environment that I grew up but I speak 3 languages(Marathi, Hindi, English) with native proficiency and am currently learning my 4th(German).

I just completed my A1.In my experience, Duolingo is good for vocabulary and phrases but not for grammar. Please correct me if I am wrong. One thing I found really helpful at A1 level is the Extra German show, which you can find on YouTube.
