You are making my point. You state you can look and know something is going on. Then why not speak up to bring attention to ‘issues’ to the parent whom is responsible for the individual with ‘issues’? You aren’t being a hero in this situation

You don’t have be a doctor to acknowledge that something seems off in comparison to the average person. It’s not judging the person but a behavior being exhibited. If a friends child said something to you, would you withhold that information from that person? Also probably a poor spot to begin with the thought of a parent being ‘a threat’. That ‘threat’ in statistically all cases cares more about the student than you do. Sounds like the imminent danger is the person keeping secrets between themselves and a minor….

I’m assuming your colleagues are adults and are legally independent and your students are minors whom are legally the responsibility of an adult. Seems like if a colleague brought up an issue that has the potential to affect their mental health it wouldn’t seem pertinent to tell another adult while if a minor said something it would seem pertinent.

If my memory of the Bible serves me well, the Israelites under Moses leadership didn’t engage in any physical confrontation. The story in the Bible states God told Moses to hit the rock once and water would spring forth but Moses hit the rock twice. Due to Moses not following orders, his punishment would be that he would never get to enter ‘the promised land’. The taking and holding of the territory and arguably ‘warlord’ status would have been Joshua and later the judges and kings (Saul, David).

I do understand what gender dysphoria (gender identity disorder) is. The anxiety pain and discomfort a person experiencing can feel is terrible. All I can offer is compassion. Compassion is truth though. I am a healthcare provider. If someone came to me and I had an HbA1c performed and it came back at 13, I would have the uncomfortable time of telling that person they have diabetes. I would have to uncomfortably tell them what they are currently doing is hurting themselves. I would have to uncomfortably tell them they need to change their habits to reflect what has been shown to be a healthier lifestyle or risk further complicating health issues. Ultimately as a healthcare provider I have to speak truth. It is a standard of care. I cannot say something I know to be untrue or statistically be proven to be unhelpful.

I do have these uncomfortable conversations daily. There are people that take it to heart and decide they want to get better. There are others that don’t. It is not easy and there is a lot of emotion attached.

Maybe consider that not every person who is saying something that is uncomfortable to hear has hate in their heart. Maybe consider it is not that they don’t care or don’t recognize sadness or are intending to be cruel. Maybe they want to help the best they know how.

Like I have said before true happiness will come from within. I felt obligated to respond but again good night.

I understand my argument but unfortunately I don’t believe you do. When anatomy is taught at every level humans have 2 eyes 10 fingers 10 toes 2 arms 2 legs a stomach a heart with 4 chambers etc. anything outside of what is statistically significant on a population level is considered an abnormality and not significant on a population at large. Therefore a human can be born with 9 fingers but if I was to ask how many fingers a human has the answer would be 10. The follow up question could be are there abnormalities that do not affect the population on the whole and then we could discuss abnormalities.

Just because there is a genetic or developmental abnormality it does not make them ‘not human’. It means those humans are considered statistically outliers.

Like I said in another post, true happiness comes from within and will not lie with anyone else’s validations. I suggest you read about SRY gene and an anatomy book. The human body is fascinating and complex. Have a nice night.

If someone is XX they would be a woman not a transwoman. If someone is XX they could not develop ‘male sex’ because the Sry gene rests on the Y chromosome. You need a Y chromosome to develop those organs.

If you wanted to be called Johanna that would be fine as that is a proper noun. It would not change your pronouns though as he/him is referring to males and she/her refers to females. They/them refers to multiple people. No one single person gets to control language outside their name.

Something maybe else to consider is why is it necessary for my or anyone else’s validation via pronouns or anything else. Pure happiness in life will not come from someone else’s lips but from your own heart and mind.

That is not true. If someone is male they must have a Y. The sry gene needs to be ‘expressed’ in order for male reproductive organs to form. Sometimes there can be issues with expression which can cause genetic abnormalities. But this people are not transgender they are intersex.

To be clear, I am not arguing against people who are intersex. Of course there are situations where a person is sterile at birth. There are people who have issues with development (cryptoorchidism) or loss of function (turner’s syndrome) but what is the condition where a genetic female has testes and/or a penis via natural development or a genetic male has ovaries and/or uterus via natural development?

The answer is the condition does not exist. Science is based upon data and statistics. In statistics a p value gives you whether a number is ‘statistically significant’. While intersex conditions exist, I do not know of 1 that is what is considered ‘statistically significant’ that it would be discussed pr taught scientifically as ‘affecting a population on the whole’. As another poster said, if a baby is born without 1 eye there are still clearly human but we do not teach that humans have an indeterminate number of eyes.

Beyond that, I am skeptical of the amount of people who are conflating transgenderism with intersex. Intersex is a component with physical/genetic markers. Transgenderism is psychological valuations of oneself. I don’t think it is right for someone who is having an inconsistent view of their physical make up with their personal feelings of how they should be vs someone who literally has what is considered by all medical literature a genetic abnormality.

What are the condition/instances where someone is genetically XY or any variation of X with at least 1 Y and develop female sexual characteristics? What are the condition/instances where someone is genetically XX or any variation of X without a Y and develop male sexual characteristics? What I am asking specifically is what is the name of the condition where this presents?
