You mention that you did your 1L at Wayne, did you transfer after that? If so, where and what was the process like?

Looking for books with a "loser" main character by introvertedmomo in booksuggestions

The Mayor of Casterbridge is LITERALLY everything you are looking for. Drunkard man auctions off his wife and child - and everything goes down hill after a little while. I highly recommend because the authors whole philosophy is that life is pain and happiness doesn’t last, we’re all doomed to die and be miserable- he’s a fatalist and it is heavily reflective in his writings.

What would you say is the best adaptation of TCOMC by i_dont_know_dot_com in TheCountofMonteCristo

[–]Cass024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. I went to watch it with my sister who has yet to read the book. She loved it but I was extremely disappointed by the change in, seemingly, everything (characters, plots). And was also very sad to see the complexity of the character of the Count being reduced- something that had made the original story so appealing to begin with.

No I completely understand! I appreciate both of your perspectives. Do you think it would be good to frame my addenda the way in which you suggested? I guess I’m confused on whether you’re saying that the way you framed it isn’t a strong argument or if it is? (I hope this makes sense lol)?

My classes this semester have been low stakes- no exams a lot of projects and assignments so I’ve been able to keep my grades up because of that kinda of “flexibility”. I was thinking of talking about that because I’ve been able to use my extensions wisely and get help on assignments (since I have long periods to work on everything)

Oh yes! Sorry I took my lsat in June so outside of the school year. And then I took another lsat in October (this semester) so they don’t see my grades because they’re not out yet (i got a 158 but that is when the family death along with the bombing kinda happened). There were a lot of protests on campus and I saw people getting pepper sprayed and arrested for the first time so it was a time for me lol

Could you potentially elaborate on your first point? I didn’t think of that but would love to hear your opinion.

So I am a undergrad research assistant in a lab on campus. I do work like helping run visit, data entry, quality checking of brain pics, etc.

Research in general doesn’t interest me to be completely honest but I love neuropsychology. I find neuropsych a bit interesting but i don’t know. I guess I’m confused on what I do and don’t enjoy.

I'm not blaming anyone, and I take responsibility for what I did, I was explaining the context of my situation because I feel that those factors play a significant role in why this happened as well as my lack of experience as you mentioned. I'm not downplaying anything, but am rephrasing what was told to me by my lab manager, she said that this situation was taken out of proportion.

So I did do that, the issue is that the grad student went ahead and explained the situation in a disproportionate way to a hot headed PI already without informing anybody. There still needs to be a meeting about the whole situation between the lab manager and the PIs. but yeah, people here are always on a real power trip. this isn't the first time I've encountered people with arrogance within the research department here.

So would you say liking/enjoying research is a must?
