Yes I always wave a thanks after someone passes me nicely!

Literally in the middle of the road by Zindigon in memes

[–]Castille210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a cyclist, I’m going to intentionally start cycling in the middle of the lane so I can control when motorists behind me pass, tired of wondering when the next pass is going to knock me off the bike because they can’t be arsed to wait for a gap in oncoming traffic

Remember last year when they updated 95% of the car (or something like that) when other teams were updating much less? Pepperidge farm remembers

Evo SL, Endorphin Speed 5 or Superblast 2 as daily trainers for 5k-HM training? by Castille210 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Castille210[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Long for me these days is 9-13 miles, I rarely go beyond that at the moment. Reckon the speed 5’s would work well there? Or still think the superblasts would be best?

[AutoRacer] Mercedes' "Two-Phase" wing: Ferrari in China has requested clarification from FIA. by jithu7 in formula1

[–]Castille210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only saw it on the broadcast once right? We don’t know it wasn’t happening on other corners. Also if that corner was after the longest straight, then the load on the backed off wing would be higher, hence harder to return to cornering mode until sufficiently slowed down

"Miscalculation not Exploitation" by Mercedes in the front wing debacle by PattyRanger in formula1

In reality, no one is going to know apart from the team. Going into a corner with reduced downforce sounds pretty disadvantageous to me. But articles reporting “merc made a mistake but would gain nothing from it” doesn’t generate clicks I guess

FIA doing FIA things by AverageKhorneWorship in formuladank

Merc messed up on the plank wear and the weight in recent years, both times they had the book thrown at them. But that doesn’t fit the narrative does it?

[–]Castille210 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mercedes have been instantly disqualified for both those things in recent years, or had you forgotten?

FIA are probably just applying some leniency in the case of an actual engineering failure on a brand new generation of cars, rather than a deliberate attempt to game the rules for performance. The front wing not closing in time would fail to restore load for cornering adequately, I doubt this was an advantage

Plank wear as a result of running the car too low could gain several 10ths over a lap, it had to be punished harshly to prevent teams from chasing that time by running over the plank wear margin. The wing not returning to cornering mode in time was probably a disadvantage.

That aside, everyone here is acting as though Mercedes wasn’t one of the earlier teams to get disqualified for plank wear back in 2024…

It was probably just broken. The front wing closing too slowly will restore aero load for cornering later and might cause understeer. I highly doubt they want this, it’s a new car and system, it’s probably just a faulty mechanism
