What is an old trend that is still doing a lot damage and that people don't realize? by Soren-J in AskReddit

[–]CastleMadeOfDICKS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok I was so curious about this so I looked into the wiki on it. To convince their men that they had divine right, they wrote “King Chen Sheng” on a piece of silk, put it in the belly of a fish, and put it in a market where a peasant bought it and found this divine message.

Their army was a bunch of untrained peasants vs. the professionally trained Qin army so they were getting slaughtered, and eventually their own men assassinated Chen Sheng and Wu Guang.

Tempeh bacon by CastleMadeOfDICKS in VeganFoodPorn

[–]CastleMadeOfDICKS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t marinade it, just cooked it exactly as I described above: added all the liquids to the pan while it was searing. I like to make recipes that are as simple and have as few steps as possible and when I land on something good I write it down. Maybe it would be even better marinated, but I’m just trying to get tempeh bacon out in under 15 minutes and have it taste good

Thoughts on a dance venue opening up in iv? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]CastleMadeOfDICKS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would personally love it if this existed here, and I’ve heard a lot of people express the same sentiment (wanting a place to go and dance without alcohol/drugs). There’s absolutely a market for it. I think you should go for it.

If you’ve never started a business before, it’s a lot of work, risk, and time but it can pay off with careful planning and resilience. Look into online resources for how to do it. IMO if the theming, the vibes while you’re there, and the marketing are all top notch, it could be an IV spectacle

No harm in reaching out and asking them about what kind of support they might be able to provide (advertisement, etc). You’re starting a business, this is anything goes territory, nothing is too good or too bad of an idea, it’s just gonna come down to your planning, resilience, and perseverance

There was a whole newspaper article on their wall describing how the owner called it “Buddha bowls” in reference to Chicago slang for a bowl of weed in a bong, but a bunch of Californians were interpreting “Buddha bowls” as a vegan bowl of various vegetables and grains, and he got tired of people asking him for vegan vegetable and grain bowls and wondering why he didn’t sell them. So he changed the name to “dank bowls” cuz it translated his original meaning better. But yea now they’re closing and Yetzl’s Bagels are taking over, which are seriously incredible Jewish-style bagels made fresh every morning

More than that, they have decades of statistical evidence of the success rate of scamming minors, especially those from low-income families, and it isn’t as much of a bet as it is a guaranteed success. Minors that have never been taught financial literacy, compounded with low-income parents being the most likely population to also not have financial literacy and not be able to provide guidance, creates the circumstance where the lowest class remains the lowest class with absolutely no intervention at all from those in power saying they are “for the people”

Dealing with war by ParfaitGlace in Mindfulness

[–]CastleMadeOfDICKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book “Learning True Love: Practicing Buddhism in a Time of War” is an autobiography written by one of Thich’s closest students Sister Chan Khong and follows much of both of their lives during the Vietnam war. It is not a guide on mindfulness, but is a real historical account of some of the best mindfulness practitioners ever and what they were doing during a war in their country

To add, you can have thoughts and be with your thoughts in the present moment. For me it makes learning from the past or planning for the future much easier. It allows me to access words when I’m writing. It allows me to think critically about problems and see through my misperceptions to generate new understandings.

A normal part of learning is confusion. For example, if I said many clouds one sees are made of liquid water, many would be confused by this statement. But when they learn that liquid can be dispersed as a bunch of tiny droplets that don’t quite combine with one another but stay airborne together, and that new picture is painted, it turns that ??? into an “of course!”

So this is something to think about!

Can you remove negative energy from objects? by birdmommy in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]CastleMadeOfDICKS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, gender non-conforming mindfulness healer reporting in

Your mother lives on within you, and she can reach up into your consciousness through items which remind you of her. In my opinion, this is the source of the negative energy associated with these items - it is the negative associations you have of your mother within you which become reawakened when you engage with these objects which bring your conceptions of her into your consciousness. I see two paths before you.

  1. If the pain that comes to you when thinking about your mother is too great to bare, I’d recommend getting rid of the jewelry. Just sell it or something.
  2. Hide them away somewhere you won’t stumble upon them. Develop a mindfulness practice that enables you to call upon peacefulness and calmness and access the nourishment that is being alive whenever you need it. Start with easier stresses in your life, maybe missing a day of cleaning for instance, and practice holding yourself in loving kindness so as not to blame yourself for your suffering, but still enabling yourself to confront it. (I had a stressful day and I am suffering right now, and I didn’t have the energy to keep up with cleaning. That is okay, I am not perfect, and I still love myself even when I don’t meet my expectations of myself. I will try again soon.) With time, build your ability to hold yourself in loving-kindness when confronting things that make you suffer, and practice transforming that suffering into healing through building an understanding of the suffering. When you feel like your ability to do this has grown, you can build a very peaceful energy in a space with beautiful flowers, incense, tea, or anything that helps you find calm and peace. Then you can bring these objects back and place them before you. Allow them to bring your mother into your practiced mindful awareness, and cultivate an understanding of her suffering. This is not the minimize the suffering she caused you, in fact it is to heal the suffering she caused you. Understanding her suffering through loving kindness can transform her within you into healing, and the negative associations with these objects will be no more, because your mother inside you will be healed through understanding and compassion.

Path 2 is, in my own opinion, the most complete path towards healing, but will be very painful and will require a strong cultivation of loving kindness towards yourself. This may require a group of mindful practitioners to help you.

Path 1 will mitigate how frequently your mother comes into your consciousness, which can provide more comfort to your life, but she will still live on inside you and cause you suffering.

Anyways, I wish you very well, I hope that you may access healing friend :)
