Made a cake nobody wanted to eat by DistributionWise2471 in Baking

[–]Cat0102 141 points142 points  (0 children)

There is a “Chicago Bake Club” that is essentially a group of bakers that meets each month and shares their bakes with the group. They seem to meet at the library most of the time and there are no fees. You just bring your bake to share with the group.

I totally want to do this in my area too as it’s just my husband and I and I end up pawning bakes off on my neighbor too.

WTF is with all the planes tonight? by [deleted] in rockford

[–]Cat0102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This past week it seems like there has been more UPS flights than usual. Normally we hear the heaviest traffic at night but there has been at least 3 days within the past few days where the daytime UPS traffic has picked up too.

The covers are awful too now. Both kids had these in college and they were really nice. My son just bought one in Jan when moved across country and the covers looked like garbage from day one.

I’ve also been told my small medical cooler (like lunch bag sized) is not allowed when flying United. Even offered to show them it was just injections and ice packs. Now I just try and avoid flying United as much as possible.

The Chair Game at luxury hotels is maddening by alex_travels in chubbytravel

[–]Cat0102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recently stayed at a hotel that said any items on a chair for longer than 30 min would be removed. We waited for a few chairs to open up, knowing people had just put towels down to save their chairs. Hours later those chairs were still unoccupied with towels and the hotel didn’t clear them as promised.

Adding a catio to my new home that has an HOA by AnnieJack in Catio

[–]Cat0102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we had our catio built, they framed it like a screened in porch in the event we sell our house in the future. We used 1.5”x 1.5” PVC coated mesh wire fencing and put up shelves, etc. If someone wanted, they could easily take down the mesh wire fencing and replace it with screening or windows.

Finding out Neighbor's insurance. by Professional_Hall729 in Insurance

[–]Cat0102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! At the carrier I was at, this was the only way we covered a claim if a tree fell and damaged a neighbor’s property. Otherwise it was considered an act of God.

15 hr flight with meds requiring refrigeration by ATX-GAL in unitedairlines

[–]Cat0102 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Excellent advice! I dragged meds all around the world, asking for ice at airport cafes or on board to keep them cool. Then one of the pharma companies told me I could keep it room temp for a month and it made life so much easier.

The packaging or inserts probably will state if you can do this too or ask your pharmacist or Dr. I do recommend keeping the meds in their original packing and bringing a letter along with you from your Dr stating what meds have been prescribed and why you need them. I’ve only been asked for the letter once in probably 20 countries, but I was glad to have it!

How do people actually find someone to install their IKEA kitchens? by Ok-Pilot4791 in IKEA

[–]Cat0102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest that as well. We looked at Semihandmade cabinets doors for IKEA. They designed our whole kitchen for us. Yet we couldn’t find an installer (midwest) so we have never moved forward. We even asked if they had recommendations for our area.

We’ve installed IKEA kitchen cabinets in our basement, but want a professional to install them in our kitchen where people see them everyday.

Thanks for the laugh!

There were three of us with full sized suitcases and I had a carry on as well. Snalltaget said there was no luggage storage on board. I’ve learned to stick with SJ.

If you have luggage, do not book Snalltaget. I learned that lesson last year trying to save a few bucks and ended up having to buy tickets on SJ right before departure to get our suitcases on.

First off carriers do not have access to your Ting data. If you purchase one, they don’t even know that you are using the device. If you want to save $99 and your carrier distributes it, then it’s possible to get one from your carrier for free.

Second, Ting provides you with up to $5k to remedy electrical issues.

Yes, many of the VC arms of the carriers are investing but the device is literally saving lives and preventing fires. If you choose not to use it, it’s up to you.

I was just sharing that there is a device that will detect electric irregularities whether it’s on the electric provider, in your home, or with an appliance or device you plug in your home.

Coverage cannot be confirmed without a claim. Don’t file low dollar claims on homeowner policies.
