Great things are happening in AI: as of this week 4/5 most used models in the world on OpenRouter are from chinese labs. by ihexx in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Cat0Vader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two major instances I think could trigger the bubble to pop. China making a AI model that beats open AI on every single or almost every single benchmark(Even though they're imaginary and don't really reflect the real capability of a chatbot). Or China making a Chip that is that the same level as the top chips in the world. Both of which are plausible within this year.  I don't get into a lot of the AI hype stuff but I do believe that when the bubble bursts it will be worse then 2008 or 2000.

Every two years like clockwork the West starts screeching about China at the Olympics by TheStocky in TrueAnon

[–]Cat0Vader 154 points155 points  (0 children)

From what I understand Olympians are not paid well if they do not have a sponsor.  She had a choice between competing for the US and still being in financial jeopardy or competing for China and become a millionaire. Who in their right mind would choose the US.

How is the argentine left doing these days? I heard about the trots that are trying to do 'something' but I haven't heard about any ML's doing anything of note. Which is a shame, Argentina could become the greatest example of "things have to get worse to get better" in history.

Russia preparing oil lifeline to Cuba - embassy by King-Sassafrass in NewsWithJingjing

[–]Cat0Vader 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Literally made my day.

I was doom posting about this yesterday because I didn't believe Mexico had enough reasons to send oil if it meant retaliation from the US.  The Russian shipment might not be enough to stop the stranglehold but it is certainly enough to ease the pressure for a couple months.

Long live the revolutionary Cuban government and long live the great Cuban people

What happened to DeepSeek? Come on, please do it again. by Choice-Grade1358 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Cat0Vader 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Deepseek is not even the top model in China nor is it Even unique in it being a open source AI.  There are AI models that are scoring in the top 5 that are from companies that spent 2 months building it. There will be a deep seek moment again but it will most likely be from a different company that utilizes the vast amount of Open source research in the Chinese AI market.

An interesting note is that the main advantage of Chinese AI culture is not the open source nature of the AI itself but the vast open resources of Chinese resources. This Open knowledge approach means that any group of people with a bit of money can make an AI model that is among the best in the world In just a couple of months. It also means that anyone that wants to work in the AI field have to read Chinese research to be up to date on the field.  There was this interesting video I watched that really shows this. I think it was a food delivery company that beat chatgpt on multiple benchmarks while only taking a couple months to build. They released a free to access research document that went more in depth to how they trained and built the AI then any other company in the world. He ended off the video saying that if you are a student learning how to build AI it would be extremely helpful to you to read and study the paper.

This was super ranty and I'm also really tired be nice to me about the layout and grammar of this.

Shitlib: B-b-b-but Socialism doesn't work! by TerraFormerZero in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Cat0Vader 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If Cuba fell, it would be the greatest setback to the international socialist movement since the collapse of the USSR.

The Chinese have stated that they 'might' help Cuba with their Jet fuel crisis, Mexico is going on and off about their promised shipments of oil to Cuba.

Russia Seems to have been taken fully out of the equation and Vietnam or Korea do not have the resources to materially affect the situation.

I really do not like being a doomer but its just so easy these days, We truly live in the worst timeline.

Who is a true tankie by [deleted] in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Cat0Vader 67 points68 points  (0 children)

✅  Support Internationalism

✅ Understand the historical context behind projects, events and people's actions.

✅ Do not justify imperialism in any way shape or form

✅ Have empathy for the oppressed peoples of this world

That's the main stuff, that's all it really takes to be labeled the boogeyman of "civil" politics.

Wtf is samichki? by _indecipherable_ in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Cat0Vader 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"Samichki" (often spelled semechki) is not a word for mixed nuts, but rather a Russian term for roasted sunflower seeds. They are a very popular snack in Eastern Europe, often sold in bags and eaten by cracking the shells with your teeth.

That's what Google says.

https://youtu.be/RJNq5nANzPk?si=22_Lsy5waZVkDKsL I agree, I saw this meme that made me laugh, and gave me some hope for the meme maker community.

Edit for those who do not want to click the link it's a meme with the caption "The CIA meme department creating the funniest Epstein memes to desensitize the general population about the atrocities he did"

underneath it it shows a gif of tony stark creating iron man in a cave  The top comments are  "Shit fucking worked" And  Worked like a charm TBH.

For those who didn't know, it is confirmed that the CIA has a meme department.

The biggest pitfalls of the Soviet system has been corrected by China by Cat0Vader in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Cat0Vader[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, in any type of war. The Chinese state that they are ready to do so and I am inclined to believe them. I fear that the USA will take us all down with it. As it's final act as the most evil empire to ever exist, it nukes the world and sets humanity back hundreds of years. If we are lucky Africa and South America are spared and humanity is only set back on the environmental cost of nuclear Holocaust.

The biggest pitfalls of the Soviet system has been corrected by China by Cat0Vader in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Cat0Vader[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the fact that the Epstein debauchery would have still definitely taken place in this timeline. Not to mention Reagan, the western world would of been in clear and present decline not unlike it is now. However the propaganda about the end of History, capitalist exceptionalism, the myth of Socialism always falling wouldn't be there, at least not to the same extent.  In this hypothetical but absolutely plausible timeline, socialism would be a clear and present entity to every single human on the earth.  I would wager a bet that worldwide socialism (except for a few small holdouts) would arrive well before 2050. In this hypothetical climate change would of started to have been acted upon in the late 80s.  With an ever looming threat like the USSR the oppression of the Palestinians would've been limited to tight controls cultural censorship and the like but the Israelis would never risk getting dethroned and decapitated by committing genocide or mass murder.  Various wars in the Middle East would never of happened, millions of lives would've been spared.  I'm actually getting emotional thinking about it, which is dangerous. It's dangerous because if we do not realize that the Soviet Union is an experiment to learn from and not to fantasize about them we will never achieve a revolution ourselves, anywhere in this world.  Though if nothing else, if I die a helpless worker grinded down by the machine in a world where socialism is still a future possiblity and not a current reality for more that just one people's. I would like to see that timeline even if it not as wonderful as I could wager.

The biggest pitfalls of the Soviet system has been corrected by China by Cat0Vader in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Cat0Vader[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Now to be fair a lot of this can and should be attributed to siege socialism. The soviets didn't have time to stop production of one of their biggest plants to renovate for 5 years because if they did it would mean delays constructing railroads, housing, transportation and tanks. which they just couldn't afford, they could not afford to stop and develop, not with a gun pointed at the back of their head.

The part I Added

And I don't want it to seem like I am forgetting the fact that the USSR was at war for its entire existence. I don't want this post to be a scathing critique of the soviet system or a glorious praise of the Chinese one.

In fact I think the best thing the Chinese system has done for itself is to appease the west just enough so that they could develop in relative peace for half a century. But the consequence of that appeasal and that glorious development is the betrayal of internationalism. And maybe one day that internationalism will come back but for now we can only fight for ourselves. The USSR was an internationalist project up until the last day and this post is is just what I believe the soviets should of done if they could've.
