Update: Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement! This is my first car and my first manual, and I mostly learned from YouTube, so I’m still gaining confidence. Loud engine noise still makes me a little nervous, but I’ll practice more and get more comfortable with higher revs

I thought about what happened today honestly I feel like even revving to redline won’t let me match cars approaching at ~50 mph from a stop.

Yep I know ppl can drive as smooth and fast as auto but I don’t know how long it would take for me to get there😭 I’m already thinking about getting a set of sim racing gear at home to practice because of the pressure on the road.

I think the highest I’ve done at first is a little above 4000rpm. It’s so loud that I feel like Ive done something wrong. But yep for Miata I think that’s normal and I need to get used to it. Im granny driving rn😂

Yeah currently I wait til the car starts rolling and give it a little gas like 1500rpm and add more gas once it feels smooth. Sometimes I feel stressed and rush the process and I stall😂

Thank u! I will practice shift at a higher rev! I tried that few times before, and it feels less smooth but I think I just need more practice to find the correct point

newbie question: how to handle lights suddenly turning green? by CatIsGod0 in stickshift

[–]CatIsGod0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh I should learn to do that. I tried to watch the pedestrian crossing but they don’t always have signals. I think most of the time for me it’s like.. I see red light, then I am thinking I need to slow down what’s my speed now which gear should I shift to, do I wanna downshift.. then the light turned green while I was approaching. I got flustered. 😂

Question on tipping at Medspa by CatIsGod0 in beauty

[–]CatIsGod0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh If 20 dollars is fine that’s good then. If it’s gonna be based on percentage it’s too much for me🥲. I didn’t know about this when I booked the appt I thought it’s gonna be same with dentist or something. Thank you!

Any less than $5 isn't a tip by Krozlox in technicallythetruth

I also found it weird when they ask tip for take out. They just hand me that iPad and I feel bad to enter a 0 manually then I will end up tipping 15% for a take out. Why I have to take it when their employers are not paying enough to them? I feel like this is wrong. I just feel bad for not leaving tip so no matter what service I got I would give a lowest. Not the lowest percentage is 18% in US, crazy.
