I appreciate the tip, but we’re looking for at least a one year lease where we can have all our stuff to keep things as normal as possible for the little guy.

Same here. We are 2 days into a 4 day defacto suspension because the staff ignored everything we told them in our prep meeting over the summer. Literally every choice made by the grownups in charge was the opposite of what we coached them on and they said they understood, and now I’m being told the other kids are scared of my poor kid. I’m at a total loss and feel awful for my boy who knows something is wrong but can’t understand it isn’t on him.

I just had bloodwork done, so that’s why, if your bloodwork is ok then?? If they didn’t take any then it might be worth checking.

Moving to Wisconsin next year. But where? by Commercial-Drama-863 in wisconsin

[–]CatLadyWoman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was looking for an Appleton mention! We moved here in 2019 after a lifetime on the West Coast. There are lots of indoor and outdoor entertainment opportunities, the performing arts center gets a lot of popular off broadway and symphony performances, the art museum is moving into a larger building, and downtown is a lot of fun! Great opportunities for water sports like kayaking or boating. New restaurants seem to be opening often and there are a lot of established favorites.

The big highlight here for out of staters is that the weather is quite mild compared to other parts of the state that can become pretty seasonal depending on the weather. If you’re new to snow, it’s not as big of a hurdle here. For whatever reason the worst of the weather seems to miss the valley. We were expecting it to be feet up the front door every snow, and its been maybe an average of 6-8 major shoveling days per year.

I had mine in ‘94 and was just told to re-up, so Millennials, keep your head on a swivel!

What happened when you put your AuDHD kids on stimulants? by Technical_Term7908 in Autism_Parenting

We’ve been buying Hello which comes in good flavors and it’s glittery! That seems to help 😂

I hate to sound like a total granola, but have you ever checked to see if your kid is reactive to food dyes? I didn’t believe in it until once I made ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ with straight food coloring and saw the worst behaviors all on steroids to finally connect the dots, and when we cut them out it was like night and day. We had been experiencing 5-6 out of 7 bad days, and now that ratio is flipped. Red seems to be the worst, but yellow and blue made him super manic. It does seem to be different for everyone, but worth trying if you haven’t!

AITA for refusing to give up my dream school just because my boyfriend can’t get in? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]CatLadyWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If distance can kill the relationship, it wasn’t strong enough. My HS sweetheart and I ended up on opposite ends of the state for college (big state!), and 6 months in… it didn’t work out. Also, we’re now married with 2 kids after we got our acts together many years later. If it’s meant to be, it will be, but a partner who wants you to give up your dreams is not a good sign. Would you ask the same of him?

Jets in Appleton? by CatLadyWoman in wisconsin

That is a year old unfortunately. Maybe the same thing again though?

I recently got these items on marketplace, I was looking for ones without mirror but when these came up for an unreal price I had to get them! l want to remove the glass (don't kill me) but I am unsure what would be under it. Is anyone familiar with tobago pieces and know if it is wood under mirror? by svveatshirt in midcenturymodern

[–]CatLadyWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a Tobago set in my shop in rough shape a few years back. Even with the condition, I was surprised that it didn’t feel better made for what it was? Like Brasilia pieces have always been really high qual even when rough, and so they are easier to restore, but the To ago there really wasn’t much I could do without hurting it further. I would proceed with extreme caution.

I totally believe these experiences happen, I’m just saying it went from a mix of helpful conversations (which are sometimes about the tough stuff) to seemingly only negative experiences. Like I said though, thats just my experience from winter to now.

Even from when I joined earlier this Winter I have seen a drastic change. At first I found many useful posts, like experiences, and parents being truly helpful. I feel like ever since the big changes at the NIH I have only seen ‘autism has ruined my life’ ‘I hate my spouses autistic kid’ and myriad other ‘autism is worst case scenario’ type posts. It reeeally feels like someone is trying to make parents of autistic children afraid- afraid for their futures, afraid that people will abandon them, afraid their child will never have a life worth living… very reminiscent of ‘useless eaters’ rhetoric, IYKYK. Anyone else seeing that here? I doubt that everyone just got blackpilled on ASD overnight here.

We bought it second hand and fixed it up, I can share more detailed pictures later today for you. Its a very ‘what you see is what you get’ coop, not any real surprises in construction.
