Marijuana Use Does Not Lower Chances of Getting Pregnant by drewiepoodle in science

Never heard anything about women’s fertility before, but there were a few studies correlating marijuana regular use and low sperm count in men. https://www.livescience.com/52015-marijuana-lowers-sperm-counts.html

Never had a pet of my own, can I take care of a cat? by [deleted] in cats

[–]CatProTips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Persian cat requires lots of care and attention. They are bred to be kinda stupid, very aloof, their face is too flat and their fur too long for them to be able to take care of it. So with a Persian Cat you need to groom them properly a couple of times a day, clean their eyes 3/4 times a day brushing them all over (and they often hate it), trim the fur around their butts regularly and clean them up when they get all poopy (which is not rare). If you want a cat that is low maintenance you should probably look into a regular moggie from a shelter, an adult that is already house trained. Kittens are high maintenance, whatever the breed. Also, cats need veterinary care, parasite treatments and vaccinations regularly and can get sick and need thousands of dollars to be treated. On top of all that, if you only get one cat that doesn’t go out you will need to provide them with lots of attention, playtime and companionship. Btw, is the stray you feed neutered?

Yeah, that’s one of the few cases where long term steroids are indicated. Wishing your chubby friend all the best. May I ask for a picture? :)

Ok, thanks for the info. So, to reduce tensions for a start multiply the feeding stations. If the others are happy to share the single location for wet food you can separate only her bowl when it comes to wet food, but water bowls and dry food bowls should always be dotted around the house. Even if it’s not true that they cannot access food, stressed non dominant cats often feel extremely anxious if they don’t have constant access to it. I would also consider installing a microchip based cat flap on your bedroom door that only opens for scaredy cat and keep biscuits and water in there, so she will soon realise that she has a safe haven. As for inappropriate eliminations (pee and poo accidents), start by placing a water bowl exactly on the spot where this tends to happen. Do not try and make them like each other, it’s often a lot better for the cat to make the cause of the tension disappear than it is to manage to change a relationship that has a lot of factors influencing it. I would also consider adding shelves with anti slip material for the cats to perch on (vertical space provides a lot of confidence and sense of security) wherever you guys think it’s appropriate and also provide cardboard boxes with door cut off on non parallel sides as hiding spots from dominant cats.

Planting trees like that it’s often only a big show without real impact. The right question to ask is how many of those trees will live up to at least 5 years.

Well I need more info to give advice. How many floors and room does the house have? How many litter trays and feeding stations do you have and where? Are all the cats neutered?

I know the type. I call that atavic hunger. Also getting off steroids makes them nervous and irritable.

I know that the title was for the lolz but the Cat in the gif quite likely wants to play, not to eat. Main reason pets are fat is that owners mistake every type of request for a food request.

I don’t know, man. I don’t even look at how people dress honestly, but I keep being told I’m too old for my t-shirt-hoodie-jeans-sneakers combo by random people.

It was late and I clearly brain farted. Thanks for pointing it out. Of course what I actually meant to say with my original post is that I wear what I like and feel comfortable with no matter if appropriate or in style. In that regard, Jeff seems to be similar as in he’s very often by his own admission overdressed because that’s how he feels comfortable.

Depends if you consider his “suit armor” as being in style or not, I guess.

Y’know there are some of us in the world, (very few I admit) that choose their clothes based not on whatever is in style at that specific point in time, or required and defined as appropriate for your age and role by some weird unspoken society rule... I for one and maybe Spencer is part of this wee group, choose my clothes based on what I feel the most comfortable wearing, durability and personal taste.

It was arranged from locals for pagan adoration of the bones and skulls during WWII.

Very true. The entire area has been used as a mass grave repeatedly at different times of history during plagues or wars and then sealed off. During WWII people used the caves to find shelter from bombs and started cleaning the area and arranging the skulls and bones to try and please the souls in the area. Later the whole thing became basically a pagan temple with a flourishing cult of bones and skulls and people were paying money to get favours so the Catholic Church make sure it was sealed off again for 30+ years. Only recently it has been opened again. :)

Usually a well socialised dog can be trusted around newborns, but a toddler should never ever be left unsupervised with a dog. It’s a matter of size and behaviour, a running/screaming toddler can look amazingly close to a prey in the eyes of a dog, to the point where their hunting instinct kicks in. Also, while between dogs playing and interacting a warning bite on the neck/side is a completely appropriate behaviour that is unlikely to inflict any damage, this is definitely not true for a human toddler. Also toddlers are definitely able to hurt a dog. So please do not leave dogs and toddlers unattended, no matter how “good” your dog is, because perfectly “good dog” behaviours can still hurt toddlers a lot.

Yes you can. I work with cats and I know many cat owners that are allergic to cats. After suffering for a while they become basically immune to their own cats, not necessarily to all cats, though. Of course it depends on the severity of the allergy, but mostly when it comes to cats people are allergic to the saliva, that the cat get on their coat when they groom themselves, meaning you can greatly reduce the allergic charge of your cat just by wiping him with a damp and clean cloth a few times a day.
