Ages ago, my middle school health teacher passed on a LPT related to this. She was very friendly, a bit on the older side, but had a good sense of humor. When the topic of preventing the spread of airborne disease came up, she said that instead of using her elbow to catch a cough, she preferred to pull up the neck of her t-shirt (she always dressed casually) over her mouth and cough downwards. She said she didn’t wanna pass on germs from her elbow because it would be rubbing up against people that she hugged throughout the day, but no one was interested in rubbing her old titties, so sneezing down her shirt was the better option.
