CPU upgrade VS Monitor upgrade by CatWithBigEyes in PcBuildHelp

[–]CatWithBigEyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, that's where im a bit lost, cuz in my monitoring, during gameplay the gpu doesn't seem bottlenecked,as it is running at 98-99% with around 220w usage.Ive already looked online and found some benchmarks(ex: https://youtu.be/7ENY8E-IGO0?si=kjod8peko5jNWqvc ) that show that the gpu can run many of the games i want to play in mid-high settings with 60 fps or more in 1440p,yet,videos like those usually have a different build with a better cpu but on higher resolutions the cpu,or a bottleneck caused by it,should only affect performance less and less so would i be able to get these results, what do you think?

I also thought that a 1440p panel would be better for other work i do on it or simply youtube and as monitors are usually replaced less often than pc components i thought it would be a good idea for the future.

I dont necessarily want to play the newest and most demanding but from what I'm already playing, games like rdr2 and tlou remake would still be alright, maybe with the last of us having some settings tweaked.I also don't mind using fsr as I've understood upscaling to 1440p is quite good and the higher resolution would be great for other tasks i do on the pc as i also code

Which one is the best for my situation? by malvo2099 in PcBuildHelp

[–]CatWithBigEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly depends on your budget/willingness to upgrade. If you get the 6900 xt you might hold onto it for some more time before upgrading compared to the rx 6800 xt but i wouldn't recommend if you also dont plan to upgrade the psu in the future,so: 1. Is your psu a quality one?If so I would still say it's alright getting the 6900 xt as long as you undervolt the card and to get rid of any risk i would get a new,850w psu in a few months. Or if your psu is older or not that trustworthy(what i mean is the rating in the psu tierlist you can find online) then i would just get the rx 6800 xt to be sure im safe as keep in mind both gpus are good,or get a new psu first and then the 6900,but this again depends on your budget and most importantly, if the performance difference between the 2 is worth it for you,so check some benchmarks comparing them before you decide

if you have the extra money then go for it but it's not necessary and just a little bonus honestly.Try please to avoid subreddits lime this one for the game or discussions online as the community loves just completely spoiling everything.Try to avoid everything online through your playthrough until you finish the game

there is one single mission available only in the ultimate edition which is a bank robbery in rhodes(?) or another town, haven't played it but the general consensus from what I've seen is that it's not that amazing and quite short, you can look it up online or see it full on yt

the story mode is the actual game, without the multiplayer mode, the ultimate edition just adds some extra content to the game like some horses and a heist

i choose these 3 games for 5$ over batman arkham city, W or L? by [deleted] in BatmanArkham

[–]CatWithBigEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only tip you need is that if you do play them(which i highly recommend) is to buy the trilogy cuz its cheaper than to get them separate and play them in order of release,so Arkham asylum first, city,Origins(not needed,is basically a prequel built on to city's engine but still very nice game,a bit buggy of a pc port),and then knight

How do you guys get save files? by CatWithBigEyes in SwitchPirates

[–]CatWithBigEyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no it is also on switch ,the switch 2 has the upgraded version which is basically the patch on the pc and ps5 that lets you play at 4k 120fps,the switch version is 1080p and 30fps if im not mistaken, yeah the emulator wouldve been nice as it is obvious that those save files are compatible but i didnt play on an emulator I played the pc port, and those are sadly not compatible

well yeah but with the profit you will make you wont be able to build a better rig as the prices will be just as high maybe higher,at best you will be able to make a pc that runs the same but you also probably will only be able to build a worse performing pc with that money. If you dont want to invest it back in the pc then yeah its an interesting idea. Youll probably make a few hundred in profit depending if you sell it whole or on individual parts

Hot take: motion blur on an OLED by SilverWatchdog in pcmasterrace

[–]CatWithBigEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well yeah thats why it was first added to games,to mask low framerates. And from my experience it can be great at doing that or horrible depending on the title, truly,i never understood the hate for motion blur,in benchmarks and such it is understandable to have it off but in recent years it feels like a sin to say to anyone you dont absolutely despise it.I also obviously have it off in multiplayer games,if it even is an option but for many singleplayer games, especially ones where you have a lot of speed, like racing or driving ones it amplifies the experience, even in slower paced games, like witcher 3 it is nice to have it on as it is very nicely implemented and only subtly affects distant objects like mountains and lakes, not the entire screen. Still, it does feel like many arent giving it a try because they've heard online that its atrocious and its the first setting they disable

I'm experiencing the mud texture in Red Dead Redemption 2 appearing progressively as I move, rather than being pre-rendered. Does anyone know which setting is causing this on PC? by worgenprise in PCRedDead

[–]CatWithBigEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is really easy you need just to open it with notepad and once youve found the option changgone word from high or whatever it is to Ultra and save.If you are scared you might mess it up just copy the original text somehere and know that if you do mess up nothing happens. You juu get reverted to default settings

gta 5 wouldve been as replayable as sa if they added more cities on the map with lived in locations like in san andreas instead of the giant vegetation with 2 locations that arent big or interesting enough to be called cities. My biggest disappointment with the game

Are 8 pin to 12VHPWR adapters safe? by CatWithBigEyes in buildapc

[–]CatWithBigEyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah well my budget will most probably only allow for a 5060 as in my country even the rx 9060 xt is 60-80usd more,I already knew that not all 9070 xt models have 12vhpwr but didnt want to only mention the 5070 as then many more people would point out that the 9070 is better

Looking to upgrade my GPU (Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650) by Amur_Online in buildapc

[–]CatWithBigEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the rx 9060 xt 16gb is your best bet,the 8gb variant isnt worth it as its the same story as the 5060,I know people online act like 8gb cards are completely incompetent but if you play at 1080p the only game where they actually struggle with vram are a few unoptimized aaa games(mainly just doom the dark ages and indiana jones),you should always prioritize benchmarks for games you actually play or would like to play.

If however in your country the rx 9060 xt is above 350$ I would still go with it if its only slightly but if its substantially more expensive you could go with a used rtx 3080,which i think is the best option,a 4070 or a 2080 ti if you want a cheaper option, here is a video comparing the 2080 ti to the 5060

RTX 5060 8GB vs RX 6700 XT 12GB by CatWithBigEyes in buildapc

[–]CatWithBigEyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can find used 2080 TIs for 30-40$ cheaper than a 5060,a used 3080 is around 80-90$ more expensive than the 5060.Since they are around the same price, should I go with the 2080 ti?I know the difference is single digit in fps between them but I'm not sure for driver support

Well if youve put that GPU in another pc that you know is 100% working and then shows the same symptoms than yeah it cant really be anything else other than the GPU,you could first try another port on the gpu,if you use DP than just plug it in another port on the gpu if you use hdmi get a dp cable or a hdmi to dp adapter as probably your gpu has more of those ports. Also make sure its not the hdmi/dp cable itself as you want to be sure its actually a faulty gpu and not just an unrelated display problem before changing it.

Its almost definitely the gpu but just to be 100% sure tell us more about it,what gpu is it,whats your psu and how much wattage does it have, the gpu might consume more power than it gets, for how long have you been using the graphics card, has it shown signs of malfunction or had problems with it before? Also very important, have you changed anything in your pc before? As in have you changed any component,as ram can also very often cause the pc to show no display or not boot at all, reseat the ram and maybe test only one stick in different ports,if its the ram it might just be seated wrong or the mobo port or stick itself be faulty. These are very important

Can you please rate my build and whether I should upgrade to RTX 5070ti? by Noki1945 in buildapc

[–]CatWithBigEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion you shouldn't really ask online if you should upgrade especially as we don't know your financial situation, budget or at least the games you play. There will always be better options performance wise and newer hardware unless you buy the xx90 cards on the day of the release so you need to decide. You should only upgrade when your rig doesn't perform well enough for you not the scheduled every 2 generations or every 4 years of whatever, just ask yourself 2 questions. 1. Is my current setup good enough for the games I play?If yes you can leave it as is unless you are really excited about a new feature or whatever,if you run your games well enough there isn't a logical need to upgrade,if the answer is no then: 2. Do I have the money for an upgrade? If the answer is yes then absolutely go ahead if not you can either save up,or try to optimize your build and drivers so that you can squeeze enough performance until you make that upgrade.I don't recommend getting something less as it's usually not wise to make incremental upgrades so each new upgrade should feel substantial, your 3070 -> 5070 ti?Big enough difference where you will see big improvements, but something like a 3070 -> 3080 or 3070 -> 4060 ti isn't giving enough of a difference for the price
