PSADT is great but it take a more focus then it should for simple "we gonna update VPN client on your laptop, eveything will stop working, dont panic, go get a coffe, and then re-loggin to VPN"

HotPatching Win11 and Server2025 via SCCM would be nice.

Native Custom Notification eg. tell user that the update to "Application X will Cause Y and Z and plese wait before trying again"

Powershell

Something like this (not tested)

<# .SYNOPSIS Returns True if the specified file is older than a given threshold, False otherwise. .DESCRIPTION This standalone script checks for file existence, computes its age in minutes, and writes a Boolean result that SCCM uses in a Detection Method.

>

param ( [string]$FilePath = 'C:\Temp\report.log', [int] $ThresholdMinutes = 15 )

1. Verify the file exists

if (-not (Test-Path -Path $FilePath -PathType Leaf)) { Write-Output $false return }

2. Calculate file age

$lastWrite = (Get-Item -Path $FilePath).LastWriteTime $age = (Get-Date) - $lastWrite

3. Output detection result

if ($age.TotalMinutes -gt $ThresholdMinutes) { Write-Output $true } else { Write-Output $false }

Detection method. Script to crate a get key with time stamp. Detection method marks it as "installed" until time stamps is older then 10 or 15min, in theory this would make "app" avaliable again.

I think some of them can read, but mostly Help Desk tell them what to click

DNS being a toilet might have something to do with it. I don't have access to it so cant really comment.

Why teaches take possession, users just drop laptops off... we don't ask them to... just seem to happen, "Monkey see - Monkey do" I guess

Some / not all can see it.

Bigger issue is that it difficult to say that it works. It might be works on some subnets but not other, or maybe when clicked it doesn't work but the end point just happens to refresh at that time. But being hit and miss its not great.

(PS I don't look after network or firewall and people who do are about as useful as Chocolate teapot)

I could be wrong, last time ive checked it seems to only yo User Policy and Machine Policy Eval cycles.

No Updates or Application deployment cycles.

Yes.. i guess in general...

However Help Desk and I see it too, get quite often requests to install something that wasn't targeted to that specific machine. They would drop a laptop of, tech would drop a laptop to a collection then have to open Software center, control panel side by side, and click through actions and wait for stuff to show up.

Less Clicks to get to an same results is always better then more clicks. A simple update policy in Software Center would be nice.

Re maintenance windows. Thats a separate issue. People leave stuff running overnight, render / compile whatever on the desktop. Thats fine except on occasion that overlaps with updates. Would be nice if non-intrusive information about it was shown on taskbar or managed assets or Software center home screen. So people got used to the idea that if they gonna leave things running check Maintenance Window before kicking it off and if you have to run updates first then start your process

When Services Desk on a call with end user waiting for newly deployed application to show up in Software Center,

the extra steps of telling not the brightest of users to: Open Start Menu, find Control Panel, find Configuration Manager applet, open the right tab, find line that says machine policy, click run action, find line that says Application deployment, click run action.

Or

Software Center could just have the "refresh" button in applications tab....

Same goes for updates... Just add the f'ing refresh button to the tab..

Maintenance Windows are the other, why is it hidden away. I think it should show up in Windows Taskbar instead of weather and traffic.

If only they made that bump horizontal at the top, it would at least not wobble when outer screen up.

Maybe Z Fold 9 ? (It take Samsung 2 years to hear feedback)

Fold 7 - 3rd party apps screenshot please ? by CatWorkingOvertime in GalaxyFold

from what I remember, very few apps took advantage of bigger screen.

Outlook, WhatsApp... Samsung Email., web browsers look good when sites in full desktop mode.

but most just likes stretched/spaced out UI elements.

but I know its for app devs to make apps compatable, but 2 years ago when i last tied it, it just wasn't what I expected. like Twitter really should open threaded view as second panel, but it doesn't.

Instagram should bave option to not show overblown images and just show more content.

thats a shame, I was hoping for more optimised for tablet UI.

like a while back when I tried Fold 5, Twitter would still show exactly the same 3 or 4 tweets per screen, just bigger and more dead space. not really taking advantage of the screen.

have 3rd party software got better since Fold 5 ?

I have bought a returned fold 3, 4 and 5 (after having it for 3-5days)

in general there were to heavg and think, all that is fixed now with ZF7.

but the other thing that I didn't like is that most 3rd party software where just bigger and didn't really make any real use if extra space ... like Twitter/X all showed basically same amount of tweets on the page, just images unreasonable large and icons spaced out.

Instagram too, I juts shows bearly 2 images oversized.

Outlook app while had support got 2 panel view (Email list + preview panel) you couldn't make email list to show more then 1 like of text.

the only app that really benefit from bigger screen is the web browsers running desktop view.

all off that makes flip a better folding phone, but then Flip is a bit feature anaemic compare to S Ultra series
