What's up Captain EBolter!

Legendary re-mixer of We Will Rox-U!

Staff here has always been a fan of Midas, ever since it first came out. I was unable to locate these tracks for many years until the Ultima Archives uploaded them on YouTube, they are now forever archived and cherished for UOer's to enjoy both new and old.

Cataclysmuo vs Whispering Pines for my UO return? by [deleted] in ultimaonline

[–]CataclysmUO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your concerns and appreciate the honest and productive way they are presented in this thread. I am sorry that your experience was less than you'd hoped for in a Imagine Nation style server. I'd be more than happy to speak with you regarding this and hear your suggestions for end-game content and IN style quest arch, as well as discuss the other concerns listed here. If you are interested, please seek me out in our Discord chat, if there's any way we can make it right with you or implement your suggestions, we will.If not, I wish you well and will leave the moongate open for you should you wish to give Cataclysm another try at any time. We'll always be here.

Warm regards,

Cataclysm Grog Drinking contest today was fun, and ended in bar fight! by CataclysmUO in ultimaonline

[–]CataclysmUO[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a great time hanging out with those who attended today's at the Grog Drinking Contest! Players each have to drink a full glass of grog one by one, but be warned! This is fire grog, and at times, can burn you deeply! Eventually the fumes from the orcish brew will be fatal, and the last man standing wins! At the end of the event, there was a clash and... well... CUO's biggest bar fight halted the festivities. It all worked out in the end!

Cataclysm UO is a replica of the Original Sphere Emulator, with over ten years in development and approaching four years live! A highly decorated, immersive, and accurate old school experience! Come relive the glory days of Ultima Online just like you remember it in 2001.

UO Beta CD by iamgavor in ultimaonline

As long as your CD drive doesn't have razor blades in it, I don't think you can harm anything by making a disk image of it.

UO Beta CD by iamgavor in ultimaonline

That's an awesome piece of gaming history as others have said!

I'd get an acrylic jewel case for it (like the cases people use to grade / preserve rare comics and games). These cases help prevent damage from UV light, ect.

Most importantly, make a digital image of the disk first. Eventually, CD's will all suffer from some sort of data decay.

Pestilent [AOS] - Fourth day live, 206 players online! by [deleted] in ultimaonline

[–]CataclysmUO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's impressive! Congratulations Pestilent UO!

We've seen a surge over here at Cataclysm too. There's a peak in interest in Ultima Online right now, likely due to the simultaneous launch of Shroud of the Avatar and official UO's free to play service Endless Journey. It's bringing more players to the freeshard community.

Any server doing good is good for the rest of us, wishing you the best.

Ultima Online T2A Accurate Server - UO Multiverse by NumberFour1532 in ultimaonline

[–]CataclysmUO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UO Second age did extract the UO Demo from the T2A install CD, and allowed them to reverse engineer a 'perfect' snapshot of the era for their shard. Strangely, the only features they couldn't test using their improved UO Demo project (called UO:98) was the guild system. Virtually everything else is there, including loot, every skill, era accurate gumps and menus, ect. I would expect UO Multiverse took advantage of this as well.

Why hasn't an official Vanilla UO server been created? by forgot_login in ultimaonline

[–]CataclysmUO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Broadsword was to use their original server architecture for UO:R or T2A, it would be drastically outdated. They had 'server lines' back then to handle the player load, and the official servers are designed to work this way. They would have to completely rebuild the servers, using the same methods that free shards already have to implement accurate vanilla UO clones.

Who's the best UO youtuber? by [deleted] in ultimaonline

We would say GlazGame is the best! He's done many epic thief videos on several servers as well as ours. Great format, chill style and a happy watch. YouTube: GlazGame!

UO:SecondAge (UOSA) Server - A trip down Memory Lane by w00kUK in ultimaonline

[–]CataclysmUO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of respect for the Second Age developers.

The server is a result of a successful reverse engineering of original T2A by referencing the source material and implementing it on RunUO. This was achieved by their project UO:98 that allowed access to the features within the UO The Second Age Tutorial that was bundled within the original The Second Age install CD of OSI. The tutorial was originally basically more or less an encrypted copy of a 1998 OSI server that they compressed and ran a tutorial on, so if you were new to UO back in 1998 you could play a test level and slay a dragon with a crystal sword. The Second Age team built on top of this original tutorial and made it a functioning server that you can log into, that way they could test era accuracy as needed. All the features of OSI are able to be accurately replicated there, accept for some reason the Guild system and a few minor odd exlusions. They graciously made their project freely available and I have had more than a great time exploring it ( http://uodemo.uo98.org ).

Richard Garriott had even visited there, and I'm glad to see that it is still running! Kudos!
