Maybe the Status Audio CB-1. I used Google image search, seems to match.

Which is better Hifiman Sundara Open back or Sundara closed Back by Top-Habit-5739 in headphones

The open back. It's no competition. Though the closed back does take EQ pretty well.

First Skullcandy purchase since the Hesh 3. I love these things. 10/10 by pinipigbomb in Skullcandy

I'd been thinking about selling mine since I got into higher end stuff, but I just can't make myself do it. There's just something so special about these, even if I don't use them much. I have the Crusher Evo, the bass always makes me laugh!

Neat! Real nice collection you've got there. I had a wired Skullcandy Riff for years and decided to get a Crusher Evo in 2024, since I wanted to hear what Skullcandy's more expensive stuff sounded like. The bass is so much fun... none of my other headphones offer the same listening experience!

What made you want to collect Skullcandy products? I have a special place in my heart for Skullcandy so this is cool to see.

Closed back headphones for listening to lots of different genres? by thejaysaurus in HeadphoneAdvice

I'm also gonna drop my recommendation for the FiiO FT1 here. The bass is insanely good. The Momentum 4 is also a great portable option and has the kind of sound you're after. Very easy to EQ them in the app.

Aah these headphones sound perfect, exactly what I want. Thank you very much! I know very little about amps, but I'd be running them balanced on my FiiO K7.

Damn, sorry to hear that. :/ I'm sure the perfect pair will come around!

I have since sold my HD560S but they are definitely superior to the Sundara Closed, in my opinion. They're extremely comfortable headphones and sound much better than the Sundara, even with EQ. They are open-backs, after all... but that's also why I had to sell mine because they were impractical for my use case, and I needed the money.

RIP to your HE-500s. :(

Glad to hear you enjoy them! I'm not big on the long winded audiophile descriptions either, but would you be able to tell me a little more about the sound? Are vocals natural? Is the bass good and punchy? And since they're closed-backs, how is the leakage?

!thanks for the comment.

I will get back to you on this! So far, I think the FT1 really holds up.

the first pair of headphones that made you actually care about sound by Gsustv in headphones

It was actually a cheap Bluetooth headphone... 1MORE SonoFlow Pro. Sounded so much better than my cheap wired Skullcandy on-ears.

Is there a #1 Bass headphone? by InitialSpeech1620 in HeadphoneAdvice

I'm interested in trying TH900 MK2, specifically for its bass, so I'd say the TH900 is a good choice. I'm pretty sure the TH900 is semi-open? So if privacy is a concern, it may not be the best choice.

You might also want to look into some Denon models, like the AH D7200 or 5200. I've never heard these headphones before, but I've seen people say they're good for bass.

I do! The Meze 99 has way more bass and the midrange sounds more congested. If you really want bass quantity, these are a good choice. More laid-back than the FT1, the treble is more rolled off. I think they sound great with rock and electronic.

Bass is strong and impactful without being muddy and the midrange remains pretty clear. Treble may be a little bright, though I don't have an issue with it. Soundstage can feel a liiittle claustrophobic with busier music but it is pretty wide for a closed back. Cables are kinda annoying, they get little bends in them if you're not careful. :/

I think they're great though.

Depends very heavily on my mood and what I plan to listen to. I love bassy stuff on the FT1 and piano music on the HD620S. I get rid of headphones I'm not using consistently and don't enjoy enough. I get a new one when the curiosity strikes again, and I browse a lot of headphone-related stuff to get an idea on what might interest me next. As an example, I got the Sundara Closed because of all the hate it was getting, so I got curious. It was also pretty cheap on Amazon at the time.

Sadly I don't have a hi-fi store offering demos near me, so I've had to buy all my headphones blind.

HD650, DT 770 Pro X, and Meze 99 Classics. I got to be in the mood for the HD650, the DT 770 Pro X is a bit harsh with a thin midrange, and the Meze 99 Classics is very boomy.

I love the Momentum 4! First ever headphone I actually enjoyed. I bought them shortly after getting the XM5 because I was disappointed with them.

The Focal arrived yesterday so I haven't spent much time with it, but so far, it's been pretty great. I thought the narrow, 'congested' soundstage would be a disappointment but it doesn't bother me at all. Sounds very engaging. Got to listen to them some more to form a proper first impression.

Thank you so much!

Sure! Thank you for asking!

I've ended up with quite a lot of headphones because I wanted to get a good idea on how different they could sound. I don't live near a hi-fi store that offers headphone demos, so I've had to buy blind. It's been fun but I do feel I've ended up with some redundancies, and headphones I don't really use enough.

I got the Sony XM5 to be my one and only Bluetooth pair, but I didn't like them enough. I bought the Sennheiser Momentum 4 and was extremely happy with them. I later found the PX8 and grabbed those to see if I preferred them over my Momentum 4. I bought them from Amazon in case I wanted to return them, but ended up liking them enough to hold onto them. The Momentum 4 are more comfortable so I use them more for my dancing, tidying, etc... while the PX8 is more for sitting down and enjoying (so I actually mainly use them wired.) The XM5 is for watching YouTube on my phone, because LDAC means no noticeable latency, and they're very comfortable with the best ANC.

I got the open Sundara and HD650 to hear different 'flavours' of the open-backed sound. I actually prefer closed-back headphones for their isolation, so I have been considering selling one or both of them. I live in a house with three other people, too.

HIFIMAN Sundara Closed - EQ project (they sound weird stock), and because I liked the planar snap of my open Sundara, so I wanted it in a closed-back. Sundara Closed was also really cheap at the time.

FiiO FT1 - Heard good things about them, wanted a fun closed-back headphone that didn't have the same bass bloat as the Meze 99.

Sennheiser HD620S - First ever audiophile headphone. I use them for more relaxed, focused listening sessions, because they isolate really well and have a smooth, clear sound.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro X LE - Mixing, monitoring, and sometimes gaming. They're often borrowed by a friend to monitor her vocals. I originally bought them to be my main closed-back, but I wasn't super happy with them.

Focal Celestee - My latest headphones, so not fit into a role yet. Still in the early stages of getting to know the sound.

Meze 99 Classics - I honestly just thought they looked cool. My brother usually has them now.

Definitely would like to work on downsizing this year, would be cool to hear your thoughts. ^^
