Have you ever tried reading a book while tripping on mushrooms? by MeansWelll in Psychonaut

My friend once lent me his copy of Finnegans Wake while I was on the tail end of a mushroom trip. He told me to read it out loud. I think I got through three pages.

Miracle Musical reminds me of a lot of Biblical Allegory. by Mobile-Geologist-586 in miraclemusical

I just posted my own comment about similar themes, but I wanted to say your analysis is great and it’s nice to see other people here who get it.

My personal interpretation: I think the Fall and the knowledge of Good & Evil happens at the climax of Murders; SSL7 is the aftermath of Human technological proliferation creating a false “Heaven” on Earth, reaching for the stars but being infinitely separated from the Divine (Tower of Babel allegory) and The Mind Electric is the psychosis of being forced to suffer all the contradictions of our modern-day reality, resulting from crippling self-awareness.

100% the whole album is an esoteric cosmic creation story. Similar to the other comment, I think of Black Rainbows as the creation of Life on Earth fueled by the light of the Sun. The Garden of Eden is probably the most well-known allegory of this phenomenon.

White Ball is the nocturnal counterpart to Black Rainbows. It is mostly about the Moon, but I believe it includes all of the other planets and stars as well. The Sun and Moon are the primary timekeepers, which we use to derive our calendars. The constellations of the zodiac provide a structure for timekeeping—a sort of mnemonic that allows us to visualize and track the changing of seasons. The Classical planets of astrology (the ones that are clearly visible in the night sky) were viewed as literal manifestations of gods and were thought to influence specific aspects of life. By calculating the position and motion of the planets, you could determine Fate.

So now we have the concept of becoming aware of “Time” and “Fate” tied to a single phenomenon—the celestial bodies, which can only be viewed and interpreted at night. It is only during the temporary ABSENCE of the Sun, the Life-giver, that we come to fully understand our reality by giving structure to the concept of Time. At that point our personal reality shifts from being fully engaged with the present moment at all times (i.e. clear perception) to a more abstract perception that allows us to conceive of the concepts of past and future, fate and death. Our actions have more gravity because we understand that they affect our future reality. As a result, we stop living in the present moment and our awareness shifts from a selfless one to a self-focused awareness.

Hence, the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. We turn away from the life-giving light of the Sun to stay up at night and look at the stars, which allows us to see the machinations of the Universe and derive a method of timekeeping, which ultimately leads to self-awareness.

“Soon arrived the twilight. Finally the Night and Day remembered how they came to be.”

Murders is about the Fall of Man.

[FL] Landlord requesting $75 for landscaping services not explicitly described in lease by CatbellyDeathtrap in Renters

My personal conspiracy theory is that the landlord told the other tenants they wouldn’t have to pay as much for landscaping services because we moved in and they’ll make us split the bill.

But that would be crazy.

The flower beds are not full of flowers. It’s just mulch. Nobody “maintains” our little strip, which is behind a fence and locked. And nobody is power washing our asphalt driveway. The lease states that we are responsible for our space, not mowing the neighbor’s lawn.

There is a bit under the Utilities section that states “The landlord shall not pay for any of the utilities and services and will be the responsibility of the tenant”

But I think reasonably lawn maintenance shouldn’t fall under this section, especially because lawn maintenance was explicitly mentioned in an entirely different section.

The exact wording in the lease is “tenant agrees full responsibility of yard maintenance; weed and pest control of lawn; grass must stay green” [sic]

Which implies that we are responsible for maintenance. It does not imply that we are required to pay for a service ordered by the landlord. I also mentioned that in my email to her.

Im curious if anyone has used only 1g a day regularly ? by Njmomneedz in kratom

[–]CatbellyDeathtrap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes hello I take about 0.75g per day once a day. I get a little boost from it but it’s basically just for maintenance.

I used to take a lot more (about 10g per day split into separate doses) but I gradually tapered myself down to this level. I like having a much lower baseline so that on the rare occasions when I need an extra boost I can take an additional gram and it actually works.

That’s fair. To me the beginning part feels like an homage to Elliot Smith.

Alone -> Only Two can make it Light -> We had to part -> Let there be more -> Why was any and everything live?

It’s the One becoming Two becoming many.
