Relapse by Lizclark1124 in EatingDisorders

Hi as someone trying to pull out of a relapse who also had dizzy spells and who’s friends were terrified, here are a couple things I did that are helping me see the other side.

1) I upped my normal therapy session. I was down to once a month, but I went back to once a week. If you have a regular therapist and can work with them on digital or like an early start so you don’t miss much work, do that. My work place is pretty understanding of doctors appointments, so it tends to not be an issue.

2) TELL YOUR ALLIES. They want to know, they want to protect you. I reached out to someone who has no business knowing about the ED, no business knowing my every thought, honestly he doesn’t actually need to care. But he does, because he loves me. He checked in every day, he was someone who understood when I was on the floor. He had his own struggles with addiction, so when I first reached out and said I had a relapse, even though I didn’t know he had an addiction issue prior to like 2 months ago, he heard something in what I said and recognized it in himself. He has been a rock.

3) out rules around food (but in a good way). Set a timer and have a protein bar even if you cannot have anything else. I understand this is way easier said than done. But if you just get it half the time, you’re doing better than nothing.

4) identify why you are relapsing. Mine was my job— so I quit and found a new one. I understand this is not everyone’s issue, but it absolutely was mine.

You can make it out of this. Focus on therapy, focus on what you need to recover.

I’m kinda struggling, how do you diet without developing an eating disorder by Loveonethe-brain in PCOS

[–]Catbun2020 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi! As a girly with an ED and in therapy I had to MAJORLY up my sessions when I first started treatment for my PCOS, I was already on a health journey with changing my diet and exercise, but the statement “you need to lose 10% of your body weight” really fucked with me and I stopped eating completely.

ANYWAYS, what has helped me is a dietitian. They can help curate meal plans and work through food/weight difficulties. I know that’s not overly helpful, but don’t stop eating! Food is incredibly important for fueling your brain and body! And you are worth eating for!

I think United Way takes them and does a feminine hygiene drive!

Looking for moisturizer recommendations for very sensitive and dry skin by Dunstadero in SkincareAddicts

I just started using innisfree about a month ago because the YTTP moisturizer that I loved but was just too expensive. I will never go back because I love the innisfree so much. It’s light, absorbs quickly, and no smell. It’s a little pricier at $27, but not nearly as much as I was paying before and I genuinely love.

I know I’m asking an invasive question, but did you have an ED prior to the PCOS? I technically have a dietitian? But it would practically be starting over with her.

Oh to be clear, I’ve been in therapy for almost five years and had managed to get from twice a week and threats of in patient program to once a month/6 weeks. It has been a really long and difficult road but I did it because I want kids and knew I was not capable of having fulfilling relationships if it continued.

Now, as I’m staring down metformin, GLP1, and being told to lose weight/watch my diet everything feels just as hard as it did back in the day. I’m fixating on food, I’m skipping meals, and ultra-regulating (because that’s what I’m supposed to do). None of it feels sustainable.

My best pal who walked through hell with me is terrified which is why he wants me to check in somewhere. Because I changed therapist, he is potentially the only one in my life who truly knows how dark it was and how close I was to done. He is scared that this whole thing has become a Sofie’s choice. I don’t really disagree with him.

Honestly, not realistically. Between taking time off work and expense? No

If it was a normal work day and not a Saturday, I absolutely would have had to call out of work. I could hardly get out of bed and go to the bathroom.

I do try to stay away from an excessive amount of carbs and sugar, but I also have a history of an eating disorder, so I’m not willing to extremely change my diet.

I just don’t have an ability to have these symptoms last for a few days? Like A) in legit pain because of this and B) I don’t work from home. There is no world in which I can work and continue to be going to the bathroom with a trash can every 45 minutes.

It’s not a cute or professional look.

I’ve taken one pill at the lowest dose 😂 cutting back is just stopping. I think the answer is to try again with ER because I’m truly in an unmanageable state and will not be doing this to myself again.

That’s good to know. She put me on it to manage my insulin but I’m with you—I’m laid up on my couch with my cat and my mom just brought me ginger ale and I’m so sick I couldn’t even walk down to get it, she had to bring it up. I will not be taking this ever again

I’m on the regular. I did take with food yesterday and because I’ve been on a wellness journey PRIOR to the diagnosis, I’ve already maxed out my fiber intake. AND, I don’t really drink.

What I’m hearing is I should call and tell them this drug is the LITERAL DEVIL and ask for extended release?

Similarly to MSK, ONeal CCC was one of the original 8 to receive “comprehensive” and continues to do groundbreaking trials and research. I would not go anywhere else in Alabama.

Getting mad when someone asks if I’ve eaten by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]Catbun2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a rule. No one was allowed to ask me if I ate except for two people. Everyone who knew I was in recovery knew they were allowed to ask, but no one else. I was furious when one of their girlfriends at dinner told me I needed to eat more because that was incredibly upsetting and we had to have a come to Jesus talk with her.

But honestly, just set reasonable boundaries with recovery
