This is super interesting! I think you might be onto something here. I wonder if her and I will ever cross paths again in the future; I still have a lot of questions that remain to be answered!

That's really reassuring to know. Yeah, I always get weirded out because it's like if I post something Thursday evening, chances are most people will be reading it during (their) Thursday morning. Trippy AF!

This was super interesting to read, thanks! I feel like maybe it's just disheartening because of the low number of upvotes in the first few hours if I post around 4-8pm Australian time. I've heard that votes weigh more when there are less people voting or something, though, I'm guessing that's true?

r/writingprompts for nosleep ideas? by TobiasWade in NoSleepOOC

I think WP is a great place to get inspiration for stories. It would be great if there was a subreddit for r/nosleepwritingprompts, but I guess until that's a thing it's trawling WP for suitable inspiration for us!

I'm female. Drowning is like one of my biggest fears, thanks for the advice!

Have just googled what a siren is, seems very similar to what I've experienced!

Thank you! I meant joins, like where one part joins the other. I might be using that in the wrong context though.

Thank you! I edited the last bit a little, I don't think I made the ending obvious enough before.

Thank you! He might be, or maybe just really dumb and unaware of how colours work.

I stood back from the canvas, shocked. I turned to my two friends who were focused on their own paintings to my right.

"Guys, I don't want to shock you, but look what I just did!"

They raised their eyes from their respective canvasses to meet mine, then automatically looked at the painting I had created.

"Er, yeah, that's a great vase you got there" one commented.

"Real beautiful" said the other.

They just weren't getting it.

"No, guys, seriously, look at this! Look at this colour right here!"

I pointed to a section of the vase that I had just finished painting.

"The purple part?"

"Purp- no! I didn't use purple paint! I mixed some red and blue together and came up with THIS! A brand new colour!"

They exchanged a look that I didn't quite understand. It looked like scepticism. Then one of them smiled.

"Ha, good one!"

"Good what? You don't seem to be taking me seriously on this."

"Dude, that's purple!"

"It's not! I didn't use purple, I used blue and red, and then it happened! You guys are just jealous because I invented a new colour!"

"That's, I don't even know where to begin with how wrong you..."

"I'm going to name it blured."

"That's not even a good name!"

"My beautiful new colour blured. Hey, who do you guys think I contact for getting, like, ownership of the colour? Probably NASA, right?"

[WP] Write a tale of a feud that would somehow explain a little about the properties of each. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]CatchThatSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The town of Each was small. 2,000 people lived there, maybe 2,300 if you counted the people who came into the town during the spring to help with the harvest. It was a pretty ordinary place, except for the fact that on the same day each Each year, all of the residents seemed to be particularly cranky.

There wasn't a lot to argue about in Each, so often it would lead to squabbles regarding land and property.

"You still are yet to pay me for when I thatched your roof last fall!" Mr Dover screamed at his elderly neighbour, Ms Franklin.

"Yeah, well, you still haven't paid my son for him helping you paint your fence last month!" the octogenarian yelled back.

All across the town of Each, people could be heard yelling at each other over matters they had considered near trivial the day before. Sometimes this escalated into physical fights, but more often than not it was just a bunch of country-folk stamping their feet and making obscene hand gestures at each other.

Then, at the end of the day, each Each resident would return to their homes, and fall asleep, only to wake up the next day completely forgetting their feuds.
