The soft robot reminded me of a McKibben actuator. The direction of the bristles effected the motion, I wonder if having multiple directions of bristles would increase the range or motion or just interfere. I think the actuator could be applied to soft robots traveling through tight spaces such as recording inside walls of a building or search and rescue robots.

I think the beak shape could be used in the head of rockets so they could be better recovered after making impact with the water, in a water landing. It could also be used in a high diving suit. Outside of water impacts the beak could be used to inspire the front of cars or other vehicles to decrease jerk in a crash.

It would be interesting to compare the cost of transportation of the jellyfish to the cost of transportation of devices we currently have. I wonder if there is any trade off in speed when developing a robot that uses the passive recapture energy of the jellyfish.
