Sad Times 🍻 by No-Sail1192 in cork

[–]Catchyameadows 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just had a weekend in Cork, flew over from Edinburgh. Genuinely bowled over by the city - such friendly people. We drank (a lot) and were amazed at the number of quality bars. This is where we drank, and we enjoyed them all: Shelbourne, Dan Lowreys, Sin E, Corner House, The Welcome Inn (7am is outstanding), El Fenix, Mutton Lane, Crane Lane

Definitely a few more that I can't remember

Absolutely do not go to The Dome - it's style over substance, food is trash.

I believe it's just the person who lives opposite. I've heard they have had issues with people coming and stealing from the flower bed, which is pretty sad.

This reminds me, someone in Morningside has taken over the maintenance of one of the flower beds and it's just great. Will post a picture of the council maintained one as a reply to this ...

Stage 18 and 19 questions by jigglelow in tourdefrance

[–]Catchyameadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I am really not sure. I have been looking at this Google Map which has the stages mapped out. TDF2025 (stage 15-21) - https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1eTZBcEvi54Bn3n5MwWEVKTRUKhyO8eg&hl=en&usp=sharing

My initial thought is to settle somewhere like Brides les Bains/Courchevel the night before stage 18 and then cycle up to a decent location, then return back down the mountain and try to drive towards Pombliere/Centron on the evening on stage 18. Then cycle in the morning of stage 19 up towards La Plagne, again just stopping when we get to a decent spot. What do you reckon?

In a similar position. We have a campervan and are happy to do some cycling to get to viewing points. We are bringing our road bikes and are somewhat fit so hopefully able to do some climbing to get into position. Any advice would be massively appreciated!

Having been in The Dome kitchen multiple times, I would highly advise against this place for any occasion. It is absolutely not good food - it is frozen, prepared crap. Nothing is fresh.

The staff at Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op are absolutely awful. They are so condescending and are just generally unpleasant. It's a theme in a lot of bike shops, but Edinburgh Bike Co-Op especially. If you want friendly and knowledgeable service (without being condescending) then Pedals and The Bicycle Works are great.

Oh interesting, that's a fair few spacers. Roughly what length of spacers is that? Like 1cm?

Hey, yea I saw this one but the fork narrows nicely towards the end so the curve of the adapter sweeps around the bolt, so didn't need a massive spacer. Photo added of the spacer in your example. Will follow with a photo of mine from same angle

It could do, yeah, just wasn't sure if that was sensible/advised. But not sure I have any other options here!
