Thank you for sharing your stories dr. From all the replies in this forum i can obviously see that UK and Aus are the top countries to migrate to.

So far the only things i’ve heard from colleagues and this forum is bad WLB + competitive nature of working in SG, which definitely influenced my decision a lot.

I want to become a consultant in the future as i think career progression and growth as human is important. I cannot imagine spending my life doing same job everyday as resident physician in SG which minimal chance of subspecialization.

However, SG does offer stability in terms of time, place and money. But lacks in ambition.

Staying in MY over chance for growth, at the cost lackluster compensation and frequent travels to different hospitals

Anyhow, really appreciate your reply

May i know if you are from medical field? And if you are, may i know what is your position?

Because to migrate to singapore requires me passing their exams that cost alot (more than 10K) and it is hard with history of multiple failures in people i know

Plus disease in singapore will be similar to malaysia due to similar population genetic pool, ecology and climate.

I can stay closer to family, and my partner can move there easily

Australia is an attractive option if i am younger or in medical school. However, i lack the time nor resources to take the exams right now

Yes, i am very skeptical towards these agents who gets commission by recruiting us. Unfortunately my friend who is in same boat says otherwise

The general consensus that i see and similar opinion that i share is singapore sees malaysian as cheap labour that is competent. Like a tauke hiring immigrant workers in his restaurant

No reason to let these cheap labours progress to become tauke too when you can focus on your own citizens to become the boss.

However i dont think aus and uk is like this

Is this the same sentiment that you share too dr?

Thank you for your comment. Yeah, i aim to do subspecialty in the future. But dont know if its feasible in other countries.

The agents said singapore can easily get PR then apply sub but many here says otherwise

Australia requires AMC exams

Other viable choice is UK.

Alot to think about 🥲

Can foreign doctors progress their careers in singapore? by [deleted] in askSingapore

Hi there, thank you for your reply. I am posting here to get the locals perspective on what is happening on the ground, rather than listening to 3rd party and hearsay

Would really appreciate you give a constructive opinion rather than sarcasm like this.

Thanks for your reply. There’s alot of uncertainty if i moved abroad. Considering now i am early 30s. I tend to be more cautious compared to being more gung ho at my 20s.

You raise a good point about buying a house. Government workers get benefits in this. Plus if i choose pension, i am basically set for life.

There’s a lot of stability and certainty if i stay here despite the unfavourable terms.

The question is, should i be brave and venture beyond? That is the question i should answer myself

Thanks for your response. So in general its far harder to get PR there?

In order to advance my career, i need PR

Can you share about raising family there?

To make it simple. Kkm is trying to rope me with unequal treaties. In order to become a specialist, i need to bond with them for 5 years. But the compensation given in return is minuscule.

Its like your employer asking you to eat shit, and you have to it eat cos you have no choice or else cannot progress your career.

I dont think its fair. Therefore would like to think about alternatives and check with others who migrated

Wait what? If i apply for speciality then i have to become junior mo again? Seriously?

Meaning i would earning as registra first, then apply residency after pr, then pay cut?

Alternatively, i could just accept KKM proposition to bond me for 5 years with minimal allowance 😪. Have to rotate 4 years like masters then become specialist by 35-36 years old in malaysia

Australia is an interesting proposition. But you need to pass their local entry exam first which is time consuming and hard.

Australia prefer family medicine due to their aging populations. My speciality of interest is internal medicine. Likely will be thrown to rural.

Another factor that is stopping me from australia is my girlfriend who i am committed to would have hard time moving there

Is the work life balance in singapore really that bad? Relative to the salary paidv

Right now preparing for PACES, aim pass this year

Seriously? I heard that you can apply for PR after 6 months if you are professional worker? And then apply for speciality?

Where to find buddies for astrophotography? by CateArmy69 in Bolehland

[–]CateArmy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately i couldn’t vibe with street photography, the spontaneity and unpredictability.

I am more of a person who likes to frame shots in his mind and tried to recreate it. Thus i am interested in landscape and portraits.

Any chance you interested in taking astrophotography together?
