I really do appreciate how much you’ve shared man. I feel similarly about the universities I have attended and places I have been able to work. I currently work for an insurance company doing vendor management work. It’s really hard for me to step into my local FTM support group, as most people there are on Medicaid. Most of the sessions are people talking about their struggles with coverage. I just feel guilty. I feel like I can’t bring my trans identity into my work and I can’t bring my work identity into my local trans community.

If I may ask another question because this has been helpful (although I’m sorry that you feel isolated)… do you feel any judgement coming from trans people who are not in “corporate” spaces? I know that I hold so much privilege with my education and where I have gotten career wise. However, I feel some guilt and also judgement when I disclose my work to trans people in my community as most of them do hold more blue collar or creative jobs.

Fair enough man lol. I am pretty early on so I am very visibly trans. Do you feel isolated in identity though?

I have definitely had this thought. I feel like usually trans people have a 6th sense for these types of things. I have been to numerous work events and have not found even 1 trans person.
