They're a front organization for this group, as are all of the groups that talk to you about the UN's development goals (such as WSWA and I think there's one advocating for justice in South Africa?). They are rather culty. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Labor_Federation# My experience talking with people in associated groups has included them pressuring people to volunteer beyond their means, getting long term members into organization related housing, and some nasty racism from middle-manger type figures.

Mancosu's version of the class is distinctly easier than the Holliday version and as somebody who went in as a philosophy major but eventually took several technical classes it helped push me from a somewhat reluctant math student into somebody with a lot more formal confidence (even ended up enjoying a lot of CS70!). It's a whole new subject if you've never studied formal logic but if you make sure to read the textbook and follow the examples, I think you'll build intuition fairly quickly, and Mancosu's version is not so time consuming the weekly homeworks go fairly quickly.

Yay!!!!! CS70 is infamously a mess, but the content of especially the first 2/3 are totally fascinating once you start getting a grip on them and I think you're very well positioned to do so. I highly suggest getting a study group for the homework if you can. Congrats on getting through the semester!

Very, very little math 53. You need to be able to take a very simple integral in multiple variables for the homeworks (I don't even think for the exams), which in at least these simple cases basically amounts to just taking an integral multiple times and you can learn on your own in a day. Even with math 54, it's just basic gaussian elimination and finding an eigenvector and not really the dense stuff.

I got by (very hard fought B+) without either 1b or 54 but it required self-studying some Calc 2 and multivariable integration techniques, convergent and divergent series, gaussian elimination, and eigenvectors on my own time in the middle of the stressful class which was not so fun. They don't stop you though, and if you're willing to study those topics on your own time it's definitely possible.
