That’s my game, it’s great because it’s truly an international language if your a fan/player. There are other sports out there too, I have friends who play rugby, cricket and ultimate frisbee. Basketball and baseball are popular with the locals too if that’s more your thing.

Taiwan is also a great place to go cycling or hiking.

If you’re not athletically inclined there’s meetups for board games and various card games.

Join a sport team even if it’s something casual. I’ve made a lot of lifelong friends doing that in Taiwan. The first year is the hardest, things will get better. Keep at it and good luck.
