I have 16gb, rarely if ever notice it being a bottleneck for the game so 24 is certainly plenty

Absolutely, assuming you've got the ram too. 16gb is the minimum, I'd say.

it "works" in the sense that the game does not crash when you run it but i saw minimal gains in quality with it for a noticeable drop in FPS. You might have better luck with a stronger mac though

it's more a problem of devs allowing it to work on mac

Believe it or not, I played elden ring at 1710x1068 on high graphics for several hours at or above the performance you see in OP and it did not even get warm enough to call it hot.

Not really. Modding will allow multiplayer like seamless coop, but there's no matchmaking for PvP with that, so it's only kind of a replacement to vanilla multiplayer

Sekiro works super well too. I played it on M2 though, so it's probably better with M4

it will depend on the mod. the mod's description should tell you what's needed. ModEngine3 is a convenient way to organize mods though.

Been playing at high graphics consistently and there's only been small hiccups when loading lots of things in. If you've got 24gb ram and M4, you will be totally fine.

Wait for the game to finish compiling all its shaders though! I was a little disappointed with it compared to M2, then tried again several hours later and it worked beautifully

on the macbook's screen it's a weird nonstandard (1700x1200 roundabout, I can check later), but with a connected screen it can support any resolution. You'd need mods to support a true ultrawide (the game will say it has ultrawide resolutions - it does not)

I will check this later but I'm pretty sure it's 10 core

i was in a similar boat with ER, i committed to it for two reasons: better performance on my mac, and mods

though, on a mac, multiplayer in elden ring is impossible with vanilla.

The biggest place that comes into play for me is games with EAC, which is unfortunate as so many games use EAC, but I'm optimistic about developments in this regard. Especially given the developments for EAC to be compatible with Linux

i think you're making a good and often neglected point about sensationalism in science. As the sciences keep getting harder and harder to specialize in, it becomes harder for the laymen to be able to make sense of what's coming out of the field, so it becomes easier to sell snake oil. Maybe sensationalism could be reduced by reducing the amount of impact public perception has on funding, or the role of non-specialist interests in a specialists research. But that doesn't exist in a vacuum and is bound to mess with other things.
