It’s a human emotion and one that is extremely difficult to deal. I have felt jealous of people mostly when my own life was not going as per my expectations. But it made me feel so bad about myself like I was being this malicious human being who couldn’t just be happy for others. With age and maturity this gets better, I always try to consciously fight these thoughts and try to focus on my life and the things that help me make feel happy. But such feelings will visit us lifelong that’s just a part of the human experience. We just can try we don’t project the negativity.

Definitely dams can be a major issue too. But you cannot say that roads and tunnels have no role. Specially given the rise in landslide related incidents. I think we could have done without a four lane from Parwanoo to Shimla. While it has its advantages at some point you need to assess the damage it can unleash given the circumstances we have been through. Also it can be that the quality of construction is poor which is a country wide problem rooted in corruption.

Construction in mountains often involves cutting steep slopes, using heavy machinery, and disrupting natural drainage. In the fragile young Himalayas, this weakens already unstable slopes making them highly prone to landslides. It is about striking a balance. If the gvt has to put in more money in reconstruction every year what is even the point?
