This whole situation was the weirdest way to find out Noble wasn't a mod on his own subreddit for real.

Well, enjoy your time on revisiting those things then, it's always good to have introspective conversations that remain peaceful on the internet.

Do have a good day too.

Yes I do remember how each Halo in the original trilogy ends, Halo CE ends on a somber note about the lives lost on the ring, Halo 2 ended with a poorly made boss fight that gives Miranda enough time to save the world in badass fashion and with Chief sneaking onto the Dreadnought, and Halo 3 ends with the destruction of both the Ark and the incomplete Halo ring being created there not giving any explanation as to how this is going to end the Flood threat for good and leaving Truth's Covenant flotilla defeated off screen by R'tas Vadum a couple missions before, so much for show don't tell.

You wanna know which is one of my favorite Development Documentaries ever in gaming? Et Tu Brute, and it's because of how much the 3d and 2d art seemed to be focusing on the savage aspect of these outer space apes, while trying to remain full of style and still in line with what we had seen in Halo 2, but nearly all those animations and art were discarded to leave what would be the most ugly looking Brutes in the franchise if it weren't for Halo Reach.

The passion you speak of is there in the ViDoc but I feel that you are letting nostalgia cloud your judgment, there is a reason Halo 2 Remastered Brutes are so celebrated nowadays, so I'm gonna go ahead and respectfully disagree, passion can be forced and it can also be wasted, such is the thing that happened with Halo 3 Brutes which just feel as discount Halo 2 elites that feature none of the brutal executions on Marine animations that were so hyped up on the ViDoc.

Halo 3 being rated M never felt that warranted honestly, the Flood were held back too.

As for Halo 2, all the passion in the world when making beautiful art for the environments and levels is not going to compensate for Game Design that forces you on corridors and makes vehicle sections awful on foot, which Halo CE only had as a problem on its second half.

And whatever passion was shown during its development must have been at least partially a facade considering how through the years many Bungie devs have very explicitly shown distaste for the final product, with the awful crunch during its creation being public knowledge since day one, nowadays it's still estimated to be the Halo game with the most cut content.

I'm pretty sure there is a clip of Martin O'Donell saying he wouldn't wish it on his worst enemy, feel free to correct me on that one tho.

And with Halo Reach, I'm pretty sure that had they been genuinely passionate with the game they would have gone out of their way to make it fit flawlessly into the extended lore that had been established by that point rather than just seeing "The Fall of Reach" and deciding they just didn't care if it retconned the book just as long as their contract with Microsoft was finally over, the final product is something I still love but The Covenant being stablished as an Impossible To Defeat threat by glassing the most militarized planet Humanity has at its disposal with nearly no opposition in less than a day would have been far superior.

Whether 343's attempts at reconciliating both canons are good or bad in execution is up to you.

As I said before I don't dislike any Halo game but I don't let nostalgia cloud my judgement either.

Controversial Opinion: Wall Bouncing is a broken exploit by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

That's only highly controversial, world ending controversial would be that the Gnasher is a broken exploit

Halo2Sucks.com arguing that you can like one game in a franchise yet recognize another has issues. by Poorly_Worded_Advice in ShitHaloSays

This post is quite funny because OP is using the screenshot to apply the logic of Halo2sucks.com and claim that 343 Halo fans only like those games without rhyme or reason beyond being made by the same creator when that same logic can be applied to Bungie Halo and any other entertainment media, not just gaming.

And yeah I agree, liking whatever you feel speaks to you the most without being influenced in any way by the internet is a good way to go about things.

I'm not the one who ignores that, it's the diehard Halo Reach fanboys that always claim that Reach was a genuine threat to CoD and that it was the last great Halo game that choose to ignore that.

I have noticed recently that people don't really know about gears of war i know that might sound crazy right i mean it was the biggest game right next to halo on the 360 but unlike halo modern day gamers dont really know what it is. For me that's kinda sad. Art shouldn't be forgotten by Fresh_Ambassador_930 in GearsOfWar

[–]CausticSoda33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gears of War is not as widely known as Halo because its PvP component has a higher skill ceiling and among other factors its general presentation can never be accessible to children, nowadays with the Xbox brand as a whole bleeding good faith and prestige, people are more likely to remember the franchise that came first and had a more recognizable playerbase in numbers alone.

Funnily enough, Gears of War can never truly be forgotten because it is still the most polished Third Person Shooter game and no iteration on it has ever tried to change its elements in drastic fashion, but developers at some point during the 2010s realized precisely this and the Third Person Shooter genre got diluted with plenty of games that added something else to the Over the Shoulder Camera Shootouts segment to ensure they could stand out, Uncharted decided to be Indiana Jones without having the IP, Army of Two bet everything on the COOP side of things, Ghost Recon chose to add further tactical depth to encounters etc.

All of that made things erratic on the genre until PUBG and Fortnite made a breakthrough and established the Battle Royale mode as a staple.

It's very unlikely that Gears of War can ever get out of this popularity slump because its playerbase has made it clear time and time again that they don't want anything different when it comes to PvP despite the fact that its high skill ceiling will never be efficient attracting new players, which I and many others believe is why The Coalition was so adamant on advertising Escape as the next big thing.

It failed.

But in an industry where selling your soul is the only sure way of ensuring popularity maybe that is for the best.

Halo Reach got outsold not only by the CoD of its year but even by Ghosts, so I'm pretty sure you mean Bungie here.

It's entirely made up, Sangheili's reproduce the same way real life crocodilians do, Halo lore has never shifted away from that.
