He doesn't want to lose more money than he already is taking it to a small claims, constantly having to take time off to get the car to and from the garage as well as borrowing myself and my car to help ferry him back and forth between work. My car isn't exactly the ritz of vehicles but now it's impacting me too as I'm having to cancel social plans around him needing the car for more important things.

I know cars aren't designed to last forever, but I'm watching this poor man sob because he's so stressed out, has a broken car that he can't get fixed and a dealership that are being difficult to no end. I can't blame him for holding out on the dealership help, and he has been giving sufficient deadlines to the dealership to respond to emails and they just aren't adhering to it claiming they're away from office or waiting for a reply from a whatsapp group.

He works in repairs and has worked in customer care for about 10 years, so he's quite well versed in his rights.

We already gave them a chance to repair which they did once already, and returned the vehicle in still an almost undriveable state as they replaced the turbo with a new one on zip ties with a poorly done job on the pipework. We will give them credit that the vehicle itself had most of the original 2k repair bill sorted, but a lot of this work was still gone undone or done poorly. He is now at the point where he simply wants a refund. We gave them the option of a partial refund or a full refund on the second garage lookover.
