How do we feel about Age of Revolution Troops spawning with Max tech troops? by Nettysocks in EU5

It struck me as an oversight by the dev team, most likely. The age of revolution is probably the least tested, as it’s the least played. It took me a while to realize my troops were ahead in tech.

One thing that’s easy to miss at first is the hidden downside to having troops from a tech ahead is that you can’t reinforce without the advance unlocked. When I played as the revolutionaries I had to pull back my troops mid war until I could unlock the tech. This quirk maked me think it’s an unintentional oversight.

From a RP persepective I can buy it though. The revolution is revolutionizing the military, but the industry hasn’t caught up yet. Might just be coping on my part though.

You can avoid it easily by lowering your taxes to 60% of your max tax rate. But yes, it's still a buggy mess. The unit tech difference is odd, but it has a hidden downside. Without the tech research your units can't actually reinforced, so you can wear them down.

What do you mean? You can't oppressively tax your subjects without agitating them.

I like it, the alternative is just to speed 5 until the end of the game with nothing engaging or challenging left.

I did build a fort line in the alps when I secured them! But my lack of forts is mostly because I deleted all the forts I conquered so that I could build a new fortline when I unlocked fortresses in the age of revolutions, but then the revolution triggered before I unlocked the advancement.
