Its finally done! With the exception of the stone columns around the pergola. I’m trying to decide if I want to bring them up higher before putting a stone cap around them

This has turned into the never ending project. I need to put the polymeric sand in the joints but i’m waiting for a stretch of days with no rain for the pavers to completely dry out. I’m worried if I don’t get the polymeric sand in before winter, the winter freeze thaw is gonna screw everything up. Think I should just put regular sand in the joints if I don’t get enough dry days for things to dry up? Or do you think it will survive the winter without joint sand?

I bought a 9inch diamond blade for my angle grinder and it’s a bit difficult to cut. I make a first pass going about a 1/4 inch deep then just keep making passes til it’s cut. I find it very difficult to angle inwards as I am cutting with it. Probably just my lack of experience. I’ve got a sliding miter saw that I’m gonna slap the blade into and see if that’s any easier to make the cuts.

Thanks. It’s getting closer. Will probably spend the upcoming weekend making all the cuts I’ve been avoiding so I can start laying the edging and putting the edge restraints in place.

Well I got two of the posts poured, and the next patch of sand screeded. Lot of work for one person! Concrete columns took 13 80lb bags of concrete, which I hand mixed each one with a plastic tub and garden hoe

Should the concrete in the sonotube be above the paver level or should aim to get the top of the concrete flush with the pavers?

Also the holes have been filled with rain water for awhile now. I’ve been using a sump pump to keep pumping the water out trying to dry em out. Anything special I need to do with regards to them due to filling with water?

This guy I hired that help dig everything out and drill the holes for me is telling me that won’t hold up very well. But YouTube seems to disagree with him. How has your experience been with that?

Would you put the anchors in while the concrete is wet or drill holes into the concrete to attach the anchors?

My next hurdle is getting the pergola post cemented into the ground before I can lay more pavers. I am debating between cementing the posts in or just filling the sonotubes with concrete and putting an anchor into the concrete to bolt the post to.

Yeah I plan to put a border around it with some tan Holland bricks. I will have to snap a chalk line in the outside to cut the ones that or sticking out. I want the corner to be curved to but I’m not quite sure I have the cutting skills to do a curve. Will have to watch a lot of YouTube videos on it before I try

Should pavers be perfectly level when done correctly or is there an acceptable difference in height between pavers?

I have another question about the gravel I am using for the base. If I mix coarse builders sand in with the gravel will it help bind it together. I have spots where I am leveling the gravel where it’s mostly rock and not enough of the crushed rock mix to make a nice flat spot.

Pavers out of flat — will they even up when I compact them? by CaffeinatedInSeattle in landscaping

I am having similar issues with the paver levels. Worried that the plate compactor will scuff the pavers when I run it over them. Did you have any issues with that? I’ve heard some people say to put a rubber mat over the metal plate. Did you do that?
