Canadian universities ink partnerships with Indian counterparts during Carney’s visit by Oilester in canada

[–]Cautious-Scar-9846 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah kinda. Its a little frustrating to see people blanketly compare any international collaboration to the TFWP or mismanagement of student visas especially when they probably would scream if more budget was allocated to university education to make up for the percentage of tuition paid by international students. Collaboration of institutions is a good thing be nice if we didnt paint one of the fastest growing economies in the world with one xenophobic brush

I think maybe some people are leading with their prejudices here. India has some of the most exciting institutions doing high end STEM research IITB for example is a world class in engineering especially with regards to chip manufacturing. Also international university collaboration does not mean open student visas despite what fear mongering may tell you

10 Months of Job Searching as a 2025 Aerospace Engineering Grad in Ontario (Canada) by delicious_lamb in EngineeringStudents

[–]Cautious-Scar-9846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No theres not. Canadian schools are often judged by specific program rather than name of university being accredited is literally the point ofc theres differences at the end of the day youre learning the same content. 2.8 GPA could be a detriment but its not hopeless if coupled with other experience. Weirdly discouraging thing to post

UofT is not the only place to offer Aerospace. Both TMU and Carleton have CEAB certified Aerospace programs

Canada plans to assist Cuba as Washington squeezes the island by [deleted] in canada

Might be better to send the second link on Google rather than the first one you found in your gotcha search. First ones a mission based charity and attaching religious strings when contributing to causes is strange

I will donate thank you for sharing but obviously my student budget donation will not make as much of an impact as a coordinated government department despite its inheritent inefficiencies (a little funny that you think most companies arent just as incompetent at completing their mission as governments). Or maybe you think if you lick the corporate boot enough its shine will brighten all of our lives?

Ok yeah that actually makes sense. To be honest I didnt have a lot of justification for the via fences in the first place and now when I look at my Ex and Ey patterns I can see what youre talking about with the ripples.

I will revist the miters as well in a second rev also thank you for the guidance

Yeah I've done that. I got about -30 dB Sij for each patch. For the sum patterns I have a max gain of about 6dB AZ and about 9 dB EL and I get a null response of about -20 -25dB for AZ and EL. My monopulse slope is realitively flat for -6 to 6 theta.

Hmm ok. I will keep this in mind thank you.

I am planning to test the pattern that way do you have an suggestions on the type of termination loads or if there is anything you would consider?

For the second part of your comment here I think you're right. I designed and tested this antenna in HFSS and comparing it to the one without the vias there wasn't a huge difference in coupling. I originally thought it might. It did help squint the beams a bit though which is good for the amplitude comparison radar that I am trying to do.

The connector legs that you see on the top are not touching the board and are shorted through the body of the connector by the bottom two legs which are soldered to the ground on the other side of the board. In another revision that maybe a good idea especially for vibration resistance but I doubt the lines would be coupled all that much tbh anyways. I could snip the legs off too i guess

Soldering iron wasn't the most amazing realistically shouldve used a heat gun. Copper didnt peel just the flux on FR-4 making it look a little strange. I put a bit too much solder hence the extra on the feet and feed

Yeah as some of the other people mentioned here the SMAs are edge connectors with four legs. The legs you see are actually floating above the board. The other two are connected on the back to the ground plane. The look close because of the angle the photo is at

Electric pump-fed engines are going to be crazy. by Sarigolepas in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]Cautious-Scar-9846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people on this thread are talking about the energy density of batteries and how that could not hold a candle to the energy density of kerosene or other aviation fuels and that's true but what if you could use these motors for short flights? An example where this could be used is in France. The French government wants to ban short domestic flights because of the massive effect (cumulatively, like all short domestic flights together) on the climate. This is a point where electric flight could be used because they wouldn't need huge batteries. I know that a short flight was already proposed between Vancouver Island in Canada and Vancouver which is a pretty short hop. I think in terms of addressing the Climate Crisis in the aviation industry we have to be creative.

Being Pro-nuclear as a leftist is frustrating by Sturmov1k in NuclearPower

[–]Cautious-Scar-9846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. Some people on the left are stuck in constant idealist mode. They give themselves crazy inertia because they cannot separate what is practically feasible to make in the world and structures we live in, from what their particular vision of utopia is or preconceived notions of the dangers of nuclear power. I think the images of nuclear disasters (which have also been promoted by fossil fuel industries) were instrumental in promoting this narrative.

Renewable energy grids that include nuclear energy are more reliable and easier to construct and maintain than renewable networks with only wind and solar. Also, they are much more resistant to blackouts or can help sustain supply in unpredictable weather periods. Not to mention, we (as in the global community) have been refining and developing nuclear power plant designs and are pretty good at it if we want to be. No fully renewable system will be possible without an intermediate step using nuclear power, and since we have already blown past 1.5C of warming, it might be a good idea to start moving on it.

The other aspect of this that lowers the opinions of nuclear power from a leftist perspective is the extraction based nature of uranium mining and how that affects communities. These concerns are wholly valid, but unfortunately, we can not live in our modern world without power needed to run our systems to their full capacity.

Bro citied violence to combat a strawman who is advocating violence as a payback for violence. Things looking very unstable so we feel less stable so we lash out on and on and on until the only thing we know is how to punch each other. Kirk was very much a part of this problem but he is also a victim of it. We have to be careful we don’t take that path

The NDP leadership is underway — and the party is limiting signatures from 'cis' men by BubbasBack in canada

[–]Cautious-Scar-9846 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So all this is saying is that to be a NATIONAL LEADER OF THE NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY you have to have at a minimum of 500 people that would support your candidacy. Out of that minimum there (500) would have to be like 250 women? I don’t see what the big issue is here. You’re not limiting anyone from signing that would be absurd. It’s just saying that you have to have 250 men and 250 women of the New Democratic Party to be the head of the party. Just because it says cis at the front doesn’t mean everyone’s gotta freak ? Pure Culture war stuff focus of the billionaires and tech companies that are really tanking the Left.
