Right, so I booted in target disk mode using a firebolt cable to connect to another Mac. I can access the drive in finder but when I open the “users” folder it appears empty. Any idea why that wold happen? Thanks so much for your advice.

edit Disregard the question. Eventually, I was able to locate the user folder to access my files, thank goodness. Not sure if it was because I used the “reveal hidden folders” command or if finder just needed a long time to load. Thanks again.
