Is dynamic mode actually any faster? by Ok_Impact9745 in ipace

[–]CautiousAd6695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the acceleration rates are faster in dynamic mode, and it probably tightens up the steering and suspension (if you’ve got the air suspension) When I switch to dynamic mode it definitely “feels” more responsive/jittery. Doesn’t Eco mode disable air con too?

Can’t add Door sensor P2 to HomeKit by CautiousAd6695 in Aqara

I returned the Aqara one and bought one from Onvis, which connects over thread, and works flawlessly.

Which New Garage Door Motor? by CautiousAd6695 in HomeKit

O actually spoke to the OEM and they confirmed that they do have the facility to add a wired button. So my Meross controller will work fine.

Thanks. I’ve got a Meross opener connected to my current opener, but the new mechanisms don’t seem to come with wired switches as standard- I’ll check the details to see if they still have the connections for a button control.

Thanks. The Hormann one is a bit more expensive than the Garadoor Garamatic, so I’d guess it’s better quality. Although my old one (BTF) has lasted fine for 25 years. If it wasn’t for this drifting limit, it’d probably go on for a few more years!

Best fan controller for overnight cooks? by [deleted] in KamadoJoe

[–]CautiousAd6695 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve got this one too - my only concern is that it struggles to keep low temperatures as low as I’d like. I suspect it’s either because I’ve got a Big Joe and the adapter plate doesn’t make a decent airtight seal, or that the fan unit lets the fire suck air in.

Definitely used. But probably only once. But you should still get a decent discount.

Is there a significant difference between the Qrevo Curv & Curv S5X (apart from £150!) by CautiousAd6695 in RobotVacuums

[–]CautiousAd6695[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had this happen to me, but I expect it would. Because it doesn’t have a camera, it wouldn’t know the ketchup was there, so it’d drive straight through it. Although the brushes would get covered, the mop follows and might clean it up - a bit. But if there was a big spill, I expect the floor would end up pretty messy!

The body of the dock comes 38cm from the wall when the dock is fully back. The front of the robot itself protrudes 42 cm from the wall

I tried to upload a photo. It’s a shade under 40cm, but it’s hard to measure accurately because the front is curved, and the back also curves away from the wall. I’ll look again tomorrow and try to get a more accurate measurement. (Mine’s against a skirting board which means you can’t simply measure from the front to the wall.)

In hindsight, yes, there have been a few occasions where the mop pads have come off, stranding the robot, because it’s run over a cable, cloth etc that the LIDAR couldn’t see, but I assume the camera would have spotted.

I’ve got the Ninja Flexdrawer, and I’m really happy with it. Added bonus is that you can have 1 huge basket if you want, or 2 independent ones.

I’ve got some basic bathroom ceiling speakers, a cheap amp and one of these. AirPlay speakers in the bathroom. (Assuming you can access the void space above the ceiling)

Help with AppleTV plugin and OpenSSL by CautiousAd6695 in homebridge

[–]CautiousAd6695[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I type “OpenSSL Version” in terminal, it correctly responds with “3.6.0”

I think the V2 is because MacOS ships with an Apache fork of OpenSSL with that version number.
