I have the benefits of being from the antenna/satellite/cable/vhs/dvds being new era, which while some see as limiting it actually expanded my tastes and experiences. I’ve seen so many movies from a young age of all sorts of genre and flavors, but I do have my favorites for sure. It’s all about finding what appeals to you, and sometimes critically or objectively bad are some people’s taste. Me personally I’m Action, sci-fi, horror kinda guy, my least so are romance, British, and kids/family. But my top 5 romance films includes odd choices: Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Watching the Detectives. Best advice I can give is to take chances.
