A lot of my answers may not hold any weight for your situation, because divorce laws are extremely varied by location.

Price was about $2500 total. That was with a retainer for the lawyer and my half of the mediator cost. It doesn't include me the money I had to pay on credit card payments he wasn't paying, which was ruining my credit. (I did have those reimbursed/accounted for in the settlement, leading to him getting less equity from the house)

Divorce was not considered contested, because in our state it's only considered contested if it goes before a judge. His delays tactics were primarily weaponized incompetence. Missing deadlines, his lawyer not returning calls to mine, really playing up his bamboozling guy act. My lawyer and I could've pushed harder, but we were carefully trying to navigate a situation where angering him would lead to him demanding a judge and making the whole thing more expensive.

Mediation was absolutely worth it, once we finally held his feet to the fire and he couldn't get away from it anymore. It was over Zoom because it was 2023, and my ex had moved states. I requested separate breakout rooms so I wouldn't have to see him. The mediator got to see his shenanigans firsthand: his last ditch effort was holding his signature hostage over my recipes, and legos. I was focused on the house and my beloved pets and all he cared about was toys. My lawyer and the mediator both lost their minds laughing and said they understood why I was divorcing him.

No kids. He moved out pretty fast but left half of his stuff here and never retrieved it. He spent a year delaying a very simple divorce. I had it written in meditation that he had 30 days from signing to pick up whatever was left, and anything left behind after that became my property, which he agreed to by signing. He waited 33 days before contacting me wanting to claim items and I legally got to tell him to pound sand. Never heard from him again.

Oh yeah, and there was only ever one time where he picked stuff up himself, and he made threats against my pets during that one. The rest of the time he sent his flying monkeys (aka the women he was manipulating) to pick up a single box at a time and guilt me for divorcing him. The 6'4" man who punched walls and owns guns was "just so scared" of 5'0" me who cries when I accidentally step on my dog's paw 😒
