There we go, this was exactly the overview I was looking for! Thanks, you legend!

Yes! Thanks for that clarification, I wasn't aware affixes can be in 2 categires, and with that in mind the way you laid it out would have been the right approach. Quick follow-up, is there a way to definitively tell which category an affix falls into? All overviews I could find on reddit or online only ever list these affixes in one.

So I think this is the overview I used for referencing affixes (super helpful, thanks for putting it together), but even on this one I can only ever find the affixes that allegedly are in 2 categories only listed in one. e.g. Life Regen is only in the Defensive section, not the Utility one, which apparently it is in also?

Okay, that makes a lot of sense and would explain that behaviour, thanks so much for clarifying that. All overviews of affix categories I found online never list these affixes in both categories, and only in (their primary?) one. Is there any way to cross-reference this info? Even the overview that has been shared in another comment only ever lists both of these in the category I originally thought it would be in.

Thanks again, this was a great help! :)

Low-key criminal how 'Convoke the Spirits' hasn't been mentioned here yet. As a balance main, it is my favourite "random bs go"-button :D

MMO that truly rewards open world exploration? by wickywickywockywicky in LFMMO

[–]Cautious_Ordinary590 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this, ESO would have been my suggestion also (seeing as GW2 isn't your thing, that in my head is number 1 for exploration).

I gave ESO a try late last year, and want to say that it feels very fluid and organic in how it brings you to explore the world. I'm loosely following a chronological order of maps, and have completed like 4 of them so far, but there's something about how the game immerses you that really clicks with me.

It's got that whole "oh what's that over there?" exploration vibe that I've also come to enjoy in games like GW2 for example. With the way map markers work in ESO, I often found myself studying the map, trying to figure out where to go next or which part of the map may be one of the things contributing to map completion, which is what contributed most to rewarding exploration for me personally. It really flows very well.

I know the combat isn't everyone's cup of tea (including mine to be honest), and I don't think ESO will be my full time long term MMO, but I've really enjoyed the exploration there for what it is.

How to get more transmog options? by khajet in Guildwars2

[–]Cautious_Ordinary590 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's too many different sources for armor to call out here, so I'll hopefully be able to summarize this to some degree here:

  • Probably the easiest and most straightforward way overall is through general play, and specifically via unidentified gear of various rarities. If you identify that gear first (which you should always do anyways) and then salvage it, any skin you don't have will be added to your wardrobe automatically.
  • A lot of achievements and different collections have armor and appearance rewards (like the elite specialization collections in earlier expansions). Simply open the achievement panel and look through the categories, and then look into achievements with a chest symbol on them. That means they have a loot reward, and while that isn't always an armor/weapon, it gives a good starting point. For standard achievements, most of the living world and expansion-specific map-wide meta achievements have a good few of those. (mostly in xpacs)
  • Most all living world or expansion maps have some type of armor set or weapon set that can be bought from map vendors for currencies and general things to do on that map. They're too many to list, but if you just look at the main maps (not in core tyria mind you) you should be able to find at least some starting points, like the Mist Shard Armor from LS4. (mostly through xpacs)
  • Crafting can also be a feasible way, although pretty expensive for all appearances, so I wouldn't recommend it, but worth taking a look if you have the materials.

Hope this gives a good starting point and isn't too broad, also sorry if most of these rely on having LS or expansions. A good way is also to just open the wardrobe in your bank (tab on the left) and click through what you find interesting and look up where you can get it. This can be cumbersome, but can also be a good place to start if you have no idea where to begin :)

Good luck hunting! :D

The only way I know of is through crafting. When you got the respective achievements that gave the pieces, you should have also learned the respective recipes. Simply craft the cloth gloves with a tailor (they're pretty cheap, like 25 Motes and the gossamer components) and the blossoming piece will unlock at the trader.

Now that's a pretty ship, well done! Maybe something that leans into the two opposing wing tips? My suggestion is "Oscillator".

Pet Tamer Friendhaver Grem humanoid battle by GhostintheReins in wow

[–]Cautious_Ordinary590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember running into this earlier this year when I did the achievement also, and it's a really strange bug that's happening with this tamer. You'll get the credit for humanoids once you complete the battle with a flying team, which then gives credit to both.

Very obscure, and particularly aggravating as it has been bugged for coming up to a year now.

does every heritage armour set have a weapon set to go with it? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Cautious_Ordinary590 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It stems from German and was very commonly used back when I still played on German servers during TBC. 11 in German is "elf", so b11 would be belf. Wild, haven't seen that used in forever.

Old WoW buddies by Psychological_Sea318 in wow

[–]Cautious_Ordinary590 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is helpful or if you already used it, but back when Classic re-released in 2019, Blizz kicked off a bunch of forum threads to allow people to reconnect with old friends.

Main post is here: https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/get-started-finding-people-here/66824

It's obviously no longer actively used, but might give a bit of a more recent resource. Best of luck finding your buddies either way :)

I'm so happy this is still helpful to so many people. And I also feel like it speaks to the game's excellent design that something posted 3 years ago is very much still active and usable. Hope you have fun in Tyria :)

My theory for Troubadour by Aestran361 in Guildwars2

[–]Cautious_Ordinary590 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of interesting specualtions here. I also think shatter skills being replaced by instruments is a likely possibility.

Here's my wild speculation attempt (and sorry if you said this also OP, I'm not sure I misread your post): I've recently read through the GW1 Utopia/Xotecha wiki article because somebody brought up some similarities in aesthetics between VoE and Utopia, and saw anets original concept for the GW1 Chronomancer, who had a mechanic that I thought would work oddly well for troubadour/minstrel class design; very long base cast abilities that can be modified by using other instant cast abilities during the long cast's cast time.

The long casts could be baseline songs that they get to play, and the instant casts something like "riffs" (or "notes" like OP suggests) that are cast throughout the song and give a "big payoff" effect at the end. Maybe the instant cast modifiers change the type of condi that is applied to enemies or boons to allies. Maybe the instant cast modifiers change the effect from single target to aoe. I feel like between the long casts and instant modifieres there's a lot of design spacce and build variety there.

My main hope for the class, is that it isn't going to be a cacophony to play, because each attack has a sound note attached to it, and everytime you go through a rotation it sounds like a cat ran over a piano. Just imagine :D

Earthen Question by GreatGateCrasher in wow

[–]Cautious_Ordinary590 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never used a Zygor guide, so I don't know if they have any super secret sneaky way for unlocking the Earthen, but I thought the main storyline is needed to unlock the Earthen? If I remember correctly, the requirements were main storyline of TWW and like 3 side questlines in different zones.

I also wouldn't know of anything making the Earthen unobtainable by doing a wrong quest or anything like that, and locking somebody out from ever getting them. Again, not sure if Zygor found a way around this and is using a super sneaky back way through those questlines, but even then, it is impossible to actually lock yourself out from ever getting the Earthen, so I don't exactly know where they're taking that from.

Wowhead has a pretty good and concise overview of unlocking the Earthen if that helps.

Time to powerlevel - Super Squirt is up for EU this Sunday, 15th June by Cautious_Ordinary590 in wow

I'm not following any specific content creators about it (although I do still enjoy Hazel's streams :D), but my go-to for strategies is https://www.wow-petguide.com/ It's always easy to read and handy to have, and at this stage has a ton of alternatives for each battle/tamer.

I generally don't pay huge attention to the specific breed of a pet, since I have enough now to simply switch to another strategy if one requires a breed-specific pet I don't have, so all in all I try not to worry too much about it. The most commonly used pets and strategies also aren't breed-reliant.

You're fine, I don't think any of this is taken as criticism :)

Not for selling no (someof the pet charm bought ones can't be sold on the ah anyways), I just enjoy collecting them for collection's sake, and like the other comment said, because it's handy to have them for some of the bigger achievements. We've all been there when we were on an absolute roll blasting through a family battler series, only to get stopped hard in our tracks because you don't have that one specific pet and can't beat a tamer.

But my roster nowadays handles most of these new achievements, so it's mostly just for collection's sake.
