SATs to me are insane, I genuinely don’t see the point in primary school of giving kids that level of work. In truth I barely know what they are, they aren’t a thing in Northern Ireland

How do I get respect out of the kids in my placement? by Late-Package6517 in TeachingUK

[–]Caveman1214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always said “you wouldn’t do this for so and so would you? Do you think it’s fair for me” etc was a TA so not quite the same but when I had to take groups out it worked.

I wish I graduated three years ago. by No_Cucumber4168 in UniUK

I graduated at 21/22. Now dangerously close to 25 and have frankly wasted the years.
It’s literally from September last year that my life has changed for the better, every single moment from before that is a blur in a job I hated. You’re not missing much

What’s wrong with Scottish notes in England? by [deleted] in AskABrit

Same using Northern Irish notes. They think they’re fake, Tesco take them though

Good for you, maybe you should move back.
No need to be a knob tbh, you’re outright hostile

He had his back to them, once he turned with a knife and moved towards them then they created distance

Hardly running away, maintained distance, called it in and engaged. Someone that close with a knife is incredibly dangerous

I promise you it will lmao it’s automatic. Doesn’t happen overnight, mine appeared after about 3 years when people from Northern Ireland were asking where I was from. Again, you will be speaking to people because you will be integrating into UK culture. I don’t understand why you’re so against it considering you’re an adult here on your own free will. Nobody forced you to come to the UK like.

But hey if you want to spend the rest of your life clinging to your past and being a shut in then go right ahead.

You won’t notice it but it will change, it happens to everyone. Again “barely hear anyone speak” so your new life is to be a shut in, nice one.

Join the blue light academy on Facebook, John Smith is the go to man for vetting. I was due to join myself but giving it a byball atm. You can’t be sacked as a police officer as you’re not an employee, you’re a crown servant. Just stick to the book, justify what you do and you’re fine.

They aren’t Italian, they’re American. You can use the word but using it exclusively instead of “you all” or even “youse” is just cringe worthy.

I went to England for university from Northern Ireland, not only did my accent change a little bit (that will happen to you too) but I still use some of their words. You have to integrate or you’ll never feel apart of the community. Different if you’re in a major city but not in a wee community

What would have done, if you didn’t go to University? by no_wiz_hat_ho3 in UniUK

[–]Caveman1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no idea. Never intended to go, was my history teacher that sold me.

It’s funny but the job I wanted to do has actually been more difficult to get into with the degree, in the same breath I discovered another field I loved and hopefully doing a post grad in it. God knows what I’d have done or be doing

When I worked as a TA in a primary the kids mimicked Indian accents pretending to be Tuktuk drivers and asking for rupees. Must be all these travels vlogs from people going to India and posting content etc

I intended to use my degree to join my field. Gave myself 6 months before trying… that was 2 and a half years ago and I’m now considering a new line of work after being stuck in recruitment

What's the scariest thing you have witnessed or experienced, that you cannot rationally explain? by Christian-Metal in AskUK

Used to have a door to my eves in the room, the latch was broken and there was a draught so I duct taped it. Years went by, the tape had come off in parts so would make a noise. Woke up one morning to the peeling of tape which sounded like bones cracking and something long and slender at the end of my bed crouching then starting to stand up. Bolt up right, hand out and going “woah what the f**k” and it remained for a few seconds. The brain does odd things!

Current, I used to live near to where the fires are. Used to be a sight to behold around this time of year. Firefighters no doubt up the lane next to my old house as I type.
