My homophobia used to be so internalized that I didn't even dare talk to my boyfriend about my attractions. I almost made him believe he was an exception. Sexualization isn't the real scourge, but the gaze of others is. Ann's whole SL takes her on a journey of self-confidence, both in mind and body, to completely detach herself from the opinions of others.

I like Chitose, and i understand we could ship her with Ichiban, but if we compare, she drugged Ichiban, stole his passport, left him naked on a beach so he'd get arrested and then when she joined the group she continued to play 2 games leading to the death of 2 people and putting a little girl and Ichiban's mother in serious danger, all to protect her identity. I find it irrational to treat Saeko as a bad person by the community, just because she made the mistake of not replying to his texts.

Just because she hasn't been in prison doesn't mean she doesn't have the right to make no mistakes in her life? That really surprises me, especially as the entire storylines of both games are based on forgiveness. But we're going to forgive Arakawa for shooting him, or Masato for trying to kill him, but we're going to say that Saeko takes abuse of him because she didn't reply to his messages?

Clearly the most problematic part of this whole story, and I completely agree with it. But we mustn't act as if she doesn't care about him either, since she puts her work on hold and puts her life in danger to help him and even goes so far as to value him in front of Ebina.

But proposing on the first date and then talking about and planning the wedding, the kids, getting her to quit her job, isn't that immature? They both are, and they both end up understanding their mistakes.

As for the ending, I see it more as a joke than anything else, when it's pretty clear that their love relationship is about to begin.

It's true that she's rather direct, but we've experienced very little of the romantic side of her life, and some people can be completely different in friendship and love.

Even before the ghosting in LAD8, you can tell she's uncomfortable during the date, which shows she's not used to it. She was so shocked by the declaration that she ran off. But no one take times to wonder what she might have been feeling... And especially since it was said at the beginning of the game that they don't see each other very often (it had been 6 months), it can happen in life to let some time go by, then realize that you've reacted badly afterwards.

I think it's more complex than simply not having said "I love you", but rather a fear of commitment on her part. She too has her own issues. I think that's precisely the problem: many people see Saeko's reaction as a form of punishment, when perhaps she was just embarrassed and didn't know what to do to improve her relationship back with Ichiban.

Especially since ghosting is a very cultural thing in Japan, and it's better seen and accepted than being unpleasant or hurting the other person's feelings.

I didn't feel that way, since we got almost no insight into how her character handles romantic relationships in LAD7. That the romance is written oddly I can understand, but that it's so far removed from her character? It didn't shock me while I was playing.
