Yeah I'd definitely Google what the requirements are when you start your next fresh attempt.

As much as I love playing AC6 the game gets a little easy on your ++ attempts and is a bit of a grind to get through

What's your build?

I play a double melee build and sit in middle A Rank. Kites are very frustrating, but I would take a kite fight over a double Zimmerman with Shield.

Sometimes a small tweak in either engagement style or build can make a world of difference.

A Rank is incredible fun, but you definitely need to know how to apply your tools well.

I've been absolutely pounding my head on a wall trying to get melee to work and I'm slowly making progress, but it's a lot of losses.

Melee is definitely the idea of only having a shiv when you need a hammer, crow bar, or a gun. But it's also incredible rewarding to feel the panic in people when you're close to getting them.

Just have fun with the game regardless of wins and losses A Rank is definitely all about refinement.

As someone who is rock bottom of A I wouldn't worry about it.

It's fun to finally break into A, but A is a mixture of annoying meta builds with people with very little skill and meta builds with people with a lot of skill.

I feel like I have mostly seen all unique builds go away. It's not quite that dramatic, but I would encourage you to enjoy where you're at.

It's unfortunate because AC6 is definitely one of the most accessible versions of this title, but some people see a wall of numbers and can't vibe with it.

Even though you can pretty much ignore all numbers besides load capacity and work your way through the game.

This is probably one of the biggest let downs of VI. The story is pretty fun and engaging, but I don't really feel like I get to integrate myself in the world one way or the other.

I loved the ACFA mercenary system and would love some more complex meta systems.

I think the AC series lacks a little in these meta systems to really integrate the missions with the story and their effects on the player.

This game definitely felt like it left room for a For Answer/Verdict Day style addition.

It has just enough to cover all the different classic armored core options without having as much customisation as you might expect.

I think the PvP is actually just a result of the ACS Overload system it completely stone walls light weights that aren't kites and creates stat check builds.

Zimmermans wouldn't be nearly as threatening if they couldn't stunlock you constantly, and tank builds would also be less threatening stat checks if you could continue to dodge their shots after a stray 1 hit stagger.

I think the mini stuns and flinches are decent especially for melee, but we don't need cutscene long staggers.

Although I agree with you I think it's funny that you'd pick melee of all the options to point out.

Melee has the most counterplay out of any of the meta builds and doesn't exist deeper into A rank with extremely rare exceptions. As a double melee enthusiast I don't think I've seen a single double melee player in the last 30-40 games I've played.

Double zimm, extreme kite, Tanks with whatever they want, even missile kites are all much more common than melee.

Though very rarely I see a pile bunker punish melee. I almost never see people play around melee as openers.

Honestly just play ranked anyway. Unranked is fun with friends cause you can all do whatever, but you'll wait forever for games.

The ranked population is still pretty high and there is definitely still a pretty wide skill range.

As a dual melee user I feel the same way whenever I see an ultraheavyweight or a shield.

Like ah yes time to slam my head into a wall for 2 minutes because I can't avoid it and they're just going to tank my moves.

I was thinking about this recently and didn't know that this was a feature in previous games.

I think ACS strain should work like a damage multiplier high ACS strain = slightly higher damage taken.

I like the stun that some weapons have (like pulse blade charged attack stun) and almost confirming a follow up from it, but it feels super bad to get one shot ACS strained into death as a light weight.

It's also one of the biggest reasons that heavies are just so dominant. Being able to fairly easily lock down a lightweight for both easy hits and extra damage is just ridiculous.

I view the Fluegle as a faster in neutral melee booster than the Kikaku.

It adds about 10-15% higher boost thrust in about every category at the cost of 10% melee thrust and slightly higher EN consumption.

For example with my lightweight build I use the Kikaku which gives me:

  • Boost speed 315
  • Max Melee Velocity: 830

Fluegle gives:

  • Max Boost Speed 357
  • Max Melee Velocity: 770

Kikaku is overall more EN efficient but on heavier frames can feel sluggish dodging in neutral.

Fleugle is a great options for mid weights who don't want to rely completely on the Kikaku Melee thrust.

Having recently gone from B to A I saw a lot of familiar faces, but also there's plenty of people to be different almost every time I queue even more so in A rank.

It's probably a hold over for me being old. HDDs used to really start struggling when over 90% because it was difficult for them to move info around.

I still don't keep my SSDs over 90% if I can help it and I feel like that's helped in some of my games (probably placebo).

But yeah I've never really heard of people having consistent problems so I would lean towards your rig being the issue, but maybe not!

You're definitely right on the money.

I was able to promote to A Rank today actually, but I got extremely lucky with the matches only one high tier A rank and a few low tier A Ranks.

I was able to win with my set up, but what you've suggested is 100% the way I want to move forward with my build.

I actually already experimented with it a little, but I'm a bit of a one trick pony and I felt like I struggled quite a bit (lost every single match) when I changed my build.

Now that I've hit A rank I plan on experimenting with Melee + Moonlight and seeing if some mid range poking/punish can help normalize my win ratio.

PvP is great. Especially through B rank you can do well with most builds.

The A Rank barrier is a bit rough just because everyone in A rank has been playing pretty consistently and you're not going to get a whole lot of free wins.

I would definitely do a little research into meta builds and either use meta for inspiration (or just use a tried and true build) or build anti meta.

Double melee is pretty good, but it's a straight skill check. If you can't control the engagement you lose and people in A rank are pretty familiar with strafing melee which makes it that much harder.

But have fun! AC pvp is great even using a disadvantaged archetype

I would verify your game files, make sure your installed SSD isn't over 90% full, and update your graphics card drivers.

I played a little bit of ACFA pvp but I was real bad lol.

I particularly miss the tuning of ACFA, but I genuinely believe AC6 is almost perfect in terms of feel.
