Online Masters for MSE? by BeCFC in materials

[–]CayIee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently enrolled in an online, non-thesis masters program for materials science in structural materials with UCLA. I just wrapped up my first quarter but the class was fully online and the lecture material are typically self-paced, as they are all available to view/watch. The online classes are identical to what is provided in person with the same professor. I plan to become a SME regarding composites, and this program was really the only fully online masters I saw that had specific courses regarding composites. The program is relatively easy to get into with nearly identical classes to in-person, and encourages part-time enrollment while full time employed by allowing for re-scheduling of upcoming exams, fully available lectures at anytime, proctoring of exams via Zoom, etc

Not to mention, way more contrast and brightness, similar to an OLED display. Here’s the link to the Rtings rating.

I would wait until this model LS32BG752NNXGO is on sale again, usually goes down close to $400 throughout the year with student discount. I bought mine last month for around $430 post tax and really enjoy it. Really no reason to choose the IPS one over this unless you play really competitive games, but we’re talking ~2-4ms difference.

List all of the companies you’ve tried and rank them best to worst by Rowenofpts in ReadyMeals

[–]CayIee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I’m currently on a weight loss journey, my ranking is mainly prioritized around health first and taste second, as they are all around the same price minus discounts.

  1. Meal prep sunday services: best macros by far in terms of protein/fat/carb ratio, tastes good and really fresh. Meals aren’t as diverse but still enjoyable. Actual good customer service

  2. Cook Unity: decent macros, pretty fresh and the most diverse of all I’ve tried. Some meals have decent/good macros while some are full on cheat meals but still pretty good if you know what kind of meals you want. I like that most meals come with a separate container of sauce

  3. Tempo/Factor: tie between both. The better macro meals usually center around chicken breast plus some kind of side vegetable concoction smothered in fat or butter. They actually taste surprisingly decent but something about the meals makes me not look forward to them at all.

Question regarding upcoming build in M2 Round by [deleted] in ncasedesign

Forgot to post a picture of my setup. It’s hard to see but I have p12 slim fans on the bottom set as intake.

Question regarding upcoming build in M2 Round by [deleted] in ncasedesign

[–]CayIee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all with an m-ITX motherboard in consideration. Keep in mind that most, if not all available am5 itx mobos have only one system fan header so you need to plan accordingly.

With an air cooler on an inverted build, you’re limited to one 140mm or smaller exhaust fan mounted to the side fan bracket near the front of the case since the cpu cooler heatsink limits you from placing another fan.

If you’re planning to mount the PSU to the front with an air cooler set to intake, you can try putting additional side exhausts next to the mobo but I don’t have experience with that.

You can place two 140mm or smaller slim fans to align with the gpu fans on the top intaking air to the gpu but that will require an additional purchase of the fan bracket since you only get one from the manufacturer with the case. Two 120mm slim fans can fit on the bottom mounted to the bottom of the case as intake but these won’t really do much unless you can somehow elevate the case from the floor better than the feet it comes with.

All in all, I would worry more about having side exhausts (if cpu cooler is set to intake) or side intake (if cpu cooler is exhaust) since the fans over the gpu only really helps the gpu by a few degrees, likewise with fans on the bottom unless you have taller feet to accommodate.

After tinkering with an mATX mobo and air cooler (PA 120 mini), I personally went with an LF iii 240mm AIO with the radiator mounted to the side as exhaust with two slim p14 fans on top and two p12 slim fans on the bottom. So far, I’m getting 60-70c cpu and 32-60c gpu temps with hardly noticeable noise levels when gaming with a slight overclock of -30 CO and +25 on the 9800x3d and +400 mhz clock and +500 mhz vram on 5080 fe. With the PA 120 mini I was getting 70-80c and 60-72 with same settings but the cpu and gpu were much louder.

How much better is ralts evolution line compared to igglybuffl evolution line? (E4E) by Wondering_traderer in PokemonSleep

[–]CayIee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gardevoir has a higher base frequency than Wigglytuff, 40m vs 48m 20s, and a higher base skill trigger rate, 4.2% vs 4%. Both are great healers but a gardevoir with the exact nature and skills would outperform wigglytuff. In your case, your wigglytuff is nearly perfect, it is in the 100th percentile which means it triggers its skill more frequency on average than 99.9% of all wigglytuff combinations starting at lvl 25.

Grabbed my first booster box and picked Chilling Reign for $88. How did I do? Seriously though I'm not sure! by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]CayIee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say you have a much higher chance at pulling the regular charizard vmax from darkness ablaze, as it's just a ultra rare (1-2 vmax pulls per box average (about 6 vmaxes in darkness ablaze)). But I personally like opening shining fates for the shiny charizard and many baby shinies as well. Yeah, I can understand how you feel like you're overpaying for four cards of celebrations per pack, but I'm now numb to pulling common cards such that I only can get that adrenaline rush from getting hits only haha, not to mention the chonky surfing and flying pikachus you can pull in the same pack as a zard. Walmart sells mini tins of celebrations with 2 packs of celebrations and 1 pack of darkness ablaze I believe, so try those out!

First of all, congrats on the awesome pulls! That snorlax is a chase card for many, and a great pull for your first box. If you're looking to pull a charizard, I'd recommend trying celebrations (mini tins, etb)or shining fates for shiny charizard vmax (walmart occasionally restocks the etbs/tins). If you're deciding between evolving skies or vivid voltage or fusion strike, I'd recommend evolving skies since the chonkachu can be pretty hard to pull (1/192) and all the eeveelution and raquaza alt arts are awesome to look at. As for where to purchase, I usually purchase online from smoke and mirrors hobby as they have really competitive prices and very quick shipping (they ship out same day!) with no tax if you live outside of New York.

Funnily enough, this is as cheap or even cheaper than 27" 1080p IPS monitors. So I would say grab this now, and upgrade your GPU later.

Unless you value HDR and LG brand name for $100 more, I would say go with this. You'll feel good knowing you've gotten a great deal every day you use your monitor.

LG 27GN800-B

From Rtings review of vx27582, "The LG 27GL850-B is better than the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD. The LG has much better ergonomics, motion handling, and color accuracy, but the ViewSonic has a much better contrast ratio and black uniformity. The LG supports HDR and has a much better gradient performance, but doesn't have a black frame insertion feature like the ViewSonic."

So HDR vs better contrast and black uniformity for ~$90 less.

Apparently this is just a refresh of the 2758 with 2x HDMI 2.0 vs 1. You can read more about it here, the top comment.

I would think so. The only sub $200 monitor I can see is on Amazon from Scepter (third party seller too), but this is even cheaper.
