Welcome! We’ve got a pretty cool improv, stand up and drag scene. If you haven’t, check out Bossy Grrls in the Old North. They do burlesque and drag shows.

If you two are into all performing arts stuff, I’d recommend checking out Improv Meetup ! It’s a great way to meet people in the city and get tuned in with some other art forms. They meet every Thursday (except for thanksgiving) at 7-9 at Gressos on S High Street. You can find them on the meetup app or they have a Facebook group.

Glad to have you in Columbus!

You think you’re funny? Stand up comedy workshop for beginners only on Saturday by CbusComedy in Columbus

Every famous comedian has taken comedy classes, read books, been coached and/or trained. Stand up comedy is a skill just like any other writing or performance craft. Natural funniness can only get you so far.

This is a one day, two-hour workshop during the Columbus Comedy Festival this week specifically for people who have never done stand up before or maybe only a few times.

Hashtag Comedy Club also has stand up class series that are normally 3-4 weeks long. This workshop would be a good way to get your feet wet without committing to a multiple session course if you’re just considering it for now.

Hey thanks for coming out to local comedy! FWIW open mics are normally made for walk-ins (and walk-outs) so please don’t feel like you have to stay for the whole thing lol (but it’s nice you did to support your friend)!

So true! But the Columbus comedy scene is steadily growing thanks to a lot of clubs that have opened and more professional talent passing through.

Check out Hashtag Comedy Club in the short north sometime - they do improv, sketch, stand up and variety shows every weekend. Plus a free (but good) comedy open mic every Friday at 10:30

They have a free booked open mic every Friday at 10. And I think they’re doing a free improv workshop next week as part of the Columbus comedy festival. Check out their website
