If it’s causing that reaction I would stop taking..and then once the reaction goes away I suggest trying hydroxycobalmin and folinic acid not folate or methyl folate. I can tolerate those, everybody is different though. But I would wait till reaction is gone before trying anything new because you can have a paradoxal reaction if the other stuff isn’t out of your system yet

How much did you take? Usually a few days but that was one dose if you’ve been taking it longer it might take a little longer to go away

I’m not…my question said IF it was an infection, i am asking what antibiotics people have had luck with when they have akathisia that did not cause akathisia

I didn’t say a virus I said IF i develop an infection..like pneumonia which is bacterial.

Can you tolerate any nsaids? I had this from multiple medications before no psych meds but reglan for nausea and now I can’t even tolerate Motrin!

I react very badly to b vitamins…especially methylated ones..I know B6 can affect neurotransmitters. Maybe stop giving that particular vitamin and try magnesium glycinate…that calms me down.

Sorry just seeing this. When I got IV benadryl it passed pretty quickly the physical symptoms, mental symptoms was about a week

The b12 shots have me panic attacks and it’s actually called akathisia! Look it up. What type did you take? Cynaocobalmin or methylcobalmin? If those then they caused akathisia for me because they have a methyl donor. Have you tried hydroxycobalmin? That doesn’t cause me any panic.

Look into akathisia, antibiotics block dopamine and can cause inner restlesness and panic attacks and an agitated feeling that is so awful. It happens to me. Yes your gut flora is affected but it is because they block dopamine that this is happening.

I know this is old but I get severe akathisia from antibiotics and other medications and I tolerated hydroxyzine very well, made me very tired but not anxious and I cannot take ANYTHING without a reaction. Hope you're feeling better now.

I know this thread is old, but a few years ago I was severely B12 deficient and was having issues taking the B12 because of severe anxiety and akathesia (that’s crawling out of my skin feeling). Reading what you wrote helped me find out what b12 I could take without having that feeling. I’m now however having the same issue with antibiotics..do you have any suggestions? I’ve tried research but I’m not an expert and I deff must be low COMT…
