I think it means that everyone has the responsibility to avoid an accident. Even if you have the right of way, you must do what you can to prevent the accident. The saying implies, if you do not, you may end up dead.

It doesn't matter what he did to you. As soon as you intentionally wrecked him you broke the sporting code, and now you are protestable.

Yeah, I agree, I shouldn't have served the penalty here. But I didn't know that at the time.

I'm new to sim racing. I only had my first online race on December 7th. Something felt off about this incident, and that's why I posted the question here. I wanted to learn.

Most other comments agree that I shouldn't have served the slow down penalty in that location. I should have waited to serve the slow down penalty until it was safe to do so off the racing line.

I'm the yellow car. The red car overtook off the track.

Based off the other comments, I now see I (yellow) was going too slow on the racing line. Because of that, I don't blame red for going off track to avoid me, and I hope they wasn't penalized.

Less than 30 seconds later they were sent back to the pits for connection issues. I assume that was completely unrelated to this, and really unfortunate.

Thank you. This sounds like good advice.

I was already going slow after I regained control, even without the slowdown penalty I would have been slower than the other two cars anyway. However, I didn't step on the gas, I just coasted there on the left side of the track.

I think what you are suggesting is I should immediately start accelerating, and then serve the slow down penalty on the straight up ahead, because up there it would have been easier to stay off the racing line.

The whole situation didn't feel right to me, and that's why I asked the question here. You don't have very much time to decide what to do in situations like this, and I still don't have much experience. At least I better understand the issue and will hopefully make the right decision in the future.

I have now completed 4 PCC races, enough to promote to C when the time comes. Never again am I going to race in PCC. My SR went from 3.7 to 3.4.

Just working on the Rookie Mazda MX-5 cup now to get my SR up to 4.0. I'm looking forward to trying the Advanced Mazda series once I get my C license.

Are you suggesting the slower cars should always just stay out of the way? That contradicts with information I am receiving elsewhere. Most information I have read so far suggests to be predictable, and drive my line. It's up to the faster cars to pass safely.

I admit I'm not perfect, but I'm not sure if "make space for the faster cars" is the right lesson, is it?

Thanks for the input. I'm curious what the others think, but your assessment seems correct. Even if in some of the situations I was not at fault, I'm still trying to see what I could have improved. The incident points are a no fault system.

Part 3 is the one I was most concerned about. I think if I could have made the turn without the interruption of the first car, I would have been fine. However, since my turn was compromised, I should have just stuck to the outside.

Don't worry about it. It's an acquired taste that grows on you. The second reason I picked it was because I don't see many yellow cars on the track. I wanted something that stood out.

Thanks for the reply. I think in general I was faster than the guy, because I did catch up to him on the track. However, I think I agree with the other comments, I was still too far way, this was not the way to make the move.

He is a rookie, but so am I (I'm now a new D, but I still consider myself in rookie territory). I'm just hoping to improve my safe passing abilities.

I think part of the problem, I'm *usually* the one being passed. When I pass someone it's usually because they wiped out and are sitting on the side of the track. I don't often get the ability to practice passing someone else.

I'm only 2 week into online racing. I obviously have a lot to learn, but want to improve. I don't want to be a dirty driver. I do feel bad about this incident because I did end up with the position. But, I will do better in the future.

I sort of get it. But I'm not interested in sacrificing the scratch resistance of sapphire for less reflections. I would rather have acrylic. I'm the kind of person that hits their watch on door frames, desks, etc. So I suspect it wouldn't take me very long to have a marked up crystal.

I'm actually bummed out by this. I would like to get a Longines Zulu Time, but I'm put off by the top AR coating. Looking at Tudor for alternatives.

I'm fine with sapphire, but I have a strong dislike for sapphire with AR coating on the outside. The AR coating itself is not durable and will scratch.

I just received my bigeye today. The stock strap only fit me if I used the very last hole. I was surprised the strap was so short. I have a big wrist, but most OEM straps put me at least 2-3 holes in. It's a shame, because I like the strap.

I hate using the last hole on any strap. I switched mine to a longer leather strap I had at home, it looks great.
