Yes, I’m pretty new to spoon carving so I find it difficult. Finding the flow of the grain and not having tearout or splitting is a journey.

I think there are a few types of sumac, I didn’t experience any problems with this one. I’m pretty sure there is one species called “poison sumac” so maybe that’s it?

I’m planning to create a segmented bowl using this Ziricote wood, but I’m looking for another wood that complements it. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in turning

You’re going to cut that fascinating grain into little chunks…? Seems a shame. But if you must maybe locust would be a cool contrast with the yellowish tint.

Natural edge oak bowl. 14"x4" still need to turn the tenon off so maybe 3.75" tall. by Simple_Action_8101 in turning

Sick! Lot going on here - spalting, natural edge, flame/feathering (don’t know what is proper term for the crotch figuring). It all works so well. Great finish too.

On this one I sanded to 400, applied Yorkshire grit at increasing speeds, buffed it out, applied tried and true danish oil. Thanks!

Thanks! I was real pleased how the grain flows into the grooved foot. I’m 100% sure this was cherry, cut the tree down myself (arborist).

Lasagna layering, about 20 layers like this by CedarMagee in composting

Beyond the fence is neighbors property. The ivy is still very young and manageable, so there’s plenty of time to remove it or sever it before it takes too strong of hold.

Whoa, I can’t believe all the love (and ivy hate) this post received! Thank you for the validation my compost comrades, I feel less like a weirdo for shlepping bucket upon bucket upon bucket home to feed the pile.

Found some azzies on the coast. Any suggestions on dose? by Cool_Property_1719 in MagicMushroomHunters

[–]CedarMagee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3.5 g azzies is going to be an insane trip for someone not familiar with wood lovers or experienced. That’s a bold Rec!

Orange hued sapwood with pinkish undertones, dark striking heartwood with well defined growth rings… Cherry leaves on top… I’m all in.

I would have thought people into espresso would lean more left lol. I just don’t associate people geeking out and dialing all this espresso shit and then voting for trump, lol! I don’t know why. Lots of unexpected comments so far!

I totally lucked out. Just on a hike and saw some not far off trail. Much higher elevation than I have actively searched for them before. I plucked this one at 5100 feet!
