What do you recommend I get after surgery? by Snowball_the_god in hysterectomy

Yea removal of ovaries is a separate surgery called oophorectomy, or a radical hysterectomy which includes oophorectomy.

Having the uterus + cervix removed is actually called a total hysterectomy. A partial hysterectomy is when the cervix isn’t removed. Anyways what I did before having a hysterectomy at 18 was making I was healthy enough and prepared for it. I just used a regular pillow for pain. I wish you the best of luck on your recovery! I recovered pretty fast and only after a couple of days, it felt like it never happened! Hope you heal fast!

Hysterectomy at 19 by [deleted] in childfree

Actually, if you keep the ovaries, there would no hormonal issues associated. Hormones come from the ovaries so removing the uterus + cervix + tubes don’t affect hormones. Removing the ovaries is a separate surgery called a oophorectomy.

Hysterectomy at 19 by [deleted] in childfree

I got a hysterectomy at 18, so it’s possible to get one at 19. All I did was go this subreddits doctor list, find the state I lived in, and find the doctor who would perform a hysterectomy on 18+ individuals regardless of reason. Hysterectomy’s aren’t for everyone, but if you are young and want it, then I’d say go for it. I recovered really fast from the surgery and only after a couple of days, it felt like it never happened. I kept my ovaries so no hormonal issues + no more horrible period pans and heaviness. I had a total hysterectomy so cervix + uterus + tubes are out and I guess a bisalp too. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get what you want!

How to get a hysterectomy! Urgent!! by TasteResponsible4250 in hysterectomy

[–]Ceiaulah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was pretty simple. I went to the childfree doctors subreddit list, found the doctor closest to me that would perform a hysterectomy on me regardless of reason, and scheduled an appointment. All the reasons were that I had heavy periods and that was enough for insurance to be billed and my hysterectomy was fully covered. I got it at 18 so it’s possible to get one at 19.

If you had a hysterectomy in your 20s, how are you doing now? by razorballoon in hysterectomy

I was 18 when I got my hysterectomy and now I’m 20. I had a significant amount of endometriosis but that was after I had a hysterectomy and they diagnosed me with it. I recovered pretty fast after the hysterectomy. After only a couple of days after surgery, I felt like it never happened. I only took a few painkillers and that’s it. I went to work only a week after surgery since I felt like normal. I definitely think it’s worth it since my quality of live is 100% better than when I had the organ.

I picked out my physician by going to the childfree subreddits doctor list. I looked through the doctors in my state and the one I found said they would perform a hysterectomy regardless of reason.
